Oh this would be a right laugh.  They would eat him alive.

Brendon v Lampard in the old firm would be utterly unbearable. Both sets of fans will be converting to Islam to ensure no affiliation to either club.

They could follow Partick Thistle, the great Glasgow Alternative, instead of supporting the OF.

Me, in the John Lambie Stand watching new supporters sing "Mary Fae Maryhill":

I was reading an article the other day about how Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney initially wanted to buy a Scottish team, rather than buying Wrexham as they did.

The thing that changed their mind was the huge imbalance in Scottish football. It was Arbroath that they had in mind (Rob's family historically came from here) and they felt that investing enough to get them into the SPL would be very doable... but then they would come up against Celtic and Rangers, with no hope of being competitive.

Essentially, those two clubs have killed football as a competition in Scotland. Let's hope the big six never do something similar in England.

Can see where they are coming from with the Scottish football argument but they can't seriously think they will compete at the top level of English football with Wrexham.

Fair point. Cant see it being a quick, easy job though. They've done well so far but especially when you get to the championship its a huge step up. And then the Premier league is a different beast. They said they wouldn't have been able to compete with Rangers and Celtic if they had a Scottish club but even if they got to the prem, they would never be able to compete with the cartel. You mentioned Luton who have had an amazing journey but realistically they will probably be relegated this season which goes back to my original point that its very hard to compete at the very top of English football.

I think that they are aiming for Championship at least. Quite realistic - it's probably the level Wrexham have been for most of the existence.

As for Scotland I think the thought was, there's Rangers and Celtic and everyone else is much of a muchness, practically any club could get to the SPL.

Totally agree I think that's what they were alluding to, getting Wrexham into The Premier League being a bigger achievement than Arbroath to the SPL. But maybe because 'smaller clubs' like ourselves and Blackburn have won the EPL they realise it's a tiny chance but it does happen, that doesn't happen in the SPL. Plus lets face it financially they wouldn't get a massive return getting into the SPL like they would getting Wrexham into the EPL...I'm sure that had a bearing whether they would like to admit it ot not.

It was their UK business partner that was speaking about it on Sacked in the morning.

Reading between the lines, they have chosen the English leagues for the long game and the media exposure that English leagues get. It all helps with the TV show.

An Ireland or Scotland team would be a 3 season story at best. Then they are stuck with a club, 5kt fans, the media lost interest and no one willing to buy it off them.

With Wrexham, get to the Prem and there's 5 years of a story, mega prize money and an option to sell to the Saudis......or whoever.

Let's not kid ourselves  it's all about business, and let's see how keen they are to pump money in if they spend 3 years in Div 2.

Well, Blackburn "bought" the Premier League when they won it in 1995.   The amount they spent was huge at the time, although it might not look it now.

Our win in 2016 was just a one-off miracle, that the bookies thought so unlikely to happen they offered the same odds as Martian landing, or Elvis Presley becoming US president.

Other teams have won the Scottish Premier League - Aberdeen 3 times and Dundee Utd once........ just not for a while.    You just need a brilliant manager like Alex Ferguson in charge, or in Dundee Utd's case, a bit of a miracle (like us).

Rangers certainly left it late today!

Guess that shows good desire and the heart to keep going.

Hearts not happy with the penalty - one of those that gets given once in a while.

No surprise St Johnstone have got rid of McLean .

3 goals and no wins this season

Surprised the Wrexham pair admitted defeat so early with regards to not being competitive with the Old Firm as a reason for not taking Arbroath on - as others have touched on one of the core thoughts in their minds must've been the ease of selling the club on should they ever want to, and exposure down here helps with that. There are a litany of other reasons to not want to take on a Scottish club but it really wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility to give the Old Firm a wobble. Different kettle of fish now than it was 15/20 years back but Hearts under Romanov gave disrupting them a good go, it didn't work long term because he was a fundamental idiot but I genuinely don't think it's unachievable for a side to bloody their nose. Would just take backing and patience.

Worth mentioning too Wrexham could potentially pull in 16k and 20k with their North Wales catchment area.

You’ll have to do incredibly well outside of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen to get those numbers in the SPL

The problem is if you continue to break stadium regulations what do you expect?.  The club have been incredibly lenient on the group compared to what we'd get south of the border.  It reaches a point where the club are left with no other options.
