No political discussion in this topic. That is complaining about a country, a politician, a party and/or its voters, etc

Obtuse?  You're making a direct comparison between the two events.  I'm saying one is the Niagra Falls of cock ups and the other is a simple slip of the tongue.  Completely different and ridiculous to make the comparison.  To try and show some balance, I guess the nearest thing I can come up with from the tories would be Michael Howard's squirmingly evasive Paxman interview, but even then, the sheer thick-headedness of Abbott's interview just puts her in a different league.

Except he's not comparing the two incidents as like for like. If you actually bother to read his post, he's saying any error Abbott makes is met with numerous posts of piss taking, not specifically the one you've mentioned, yet any error a tory makes is ignored and brushed under the carpet. Nobody is denying Abbott is embarrassment, but we're hardly awash with talented MPs at the minute are we anyway.

I wouldn't want Abbott anywhere near front line politics, but I don't want Priti Patel there either, its shame some of our more right leaning voters can't be as balanced.

But I was being balanced, hence citing Howard's cringefest.  That would be something you could compare.  Patel's gaff was more like Trevor McDonald's 'Kent countryside' misstep.  I feel like I am simply stating the obvious and some of our 'left-leaners' are trying to make capital from a simple slip of the tongue.

Let's move on.  Apologies for dragging this ot.

Whilst I understand the concern and angst of frontline staff, I do think that people are underestimating the PPE distribution and procurement challenge this country is facing.  Knowing many military personnel involved in this, all I can say is that it is not through a lack of effort that this issue is dragging on.

I’m able to get hold of most PPE from China at the moment. N95 masks have gone up from $2 each to $3-50 over the past ten days. Surgical sterile medical masks from 35 cents to 45 cents each. We were looking at bringing in gowns a few weeks ago but the local govt took control of all production.  My assumption is that whatever we need as a country is available (we could even send an aircraft out there to collect)  so it can only be U.K. logistics in distribution from a central warehouse system that’s the issue.

I'll say it slowly so you understand. He. Wasn't. Comparing.

Get it?

The right learners frequently make capital fro lm "slips of the tongue" yet brush it under that carpet when one of their own does. That was the whole point from the start. Very simple, how are you not getting it?

Say it as slow as you like, I will still disagree with you.

I will agree with your last pre-edited statement about moving on though.

OK, you won't let it go so let me explain.  Without trawling back through the thread, Stan and one or two others said if Abbott had said the same thing...double standards etc etc

Now why pick on Abbott I wonder?  Why not any other Labour MP?  It's because Abbott is a figure of ridicule among the Tories for her high profile gaffs.  The LBC car crash is a shining example.  Stan didn't mention it himself.  Of course not, why would he?  The point is, that Stan's premise doesn't bear scrutiny because Abbott is a figure of fun precisely because her gaffs are on a completely different planet to simply adding the wrong word to a statement.  The comparison is invited and has to be made to show that it's not double standards because Abbott's gaffs are monumental in comparison.  THAT is whay Abbott is regarded as a clown.  Imo Stan is wrong to say what he said.  If some random Labour MP had made a simple slip of the tongue it would not be seized upon by tories n the same way that Abbott's gaffs have been in the past.

I really can't put int any simpler than that.

I'm not trawling back through all the politics threads, but I can assure you it does happen. Maybe Abbott was the wrong one to bring up, maybe Corbyn, Gardiner, maybe Dodds who stumbled a bit in a Neil interview and MattP couldn't wait to dig it out and share it.

Wrong to say it? How lol?

For most of your post, you've totally missed the point of my post. Then you end it with the bolded bit and I think you are wrong to say that. Corbyn is/was absolutely hounded as well whenever he said anything, even if it wasn't a blunder/howler.

Abbott doesn't help herself but I think you're over-thinking it all!

I don't mean you were wrong to say it, as in you are entitled to your opinion.  Perhaps I should have said that I think you are wrong.  That's what I meant.  As for Corbyn, well yes he is another that is prone to the odd own goal or ten, but the point is Abbott is not lampooned for slips of the tongue but for being a standing joke.  To show that, I have to compare Abbotts gaffs against Patel's today,

Distribution is certainly the biggest challenge as the scale is enormous. The government are not lying when they say there is a herculean effort ongoing
