I'm just relieved it is a right winger and a left footed one at that thst we are being linked with. We hoped and prayed all of last summer that we'd bring one in and weren't really linked with any, Perez was the threat from wide right that Rodgers hoped would do the business.

 

If this doesn't come off then surely we'll go gung ho for Brooks, Stengs or Tsgankov.

Is there a reason we are not just offering to buy him out right. Why are we offering to take him on a two year loan with the Obligation of a £45million transfer at the end of it ? If it’s an obligation we are bound to pay that sum anyway. Just wondering if there are UEFA rules prohibiting a second transfer so quickly.

Well it would mean this wouldn’t come off our books for two years and also it will more than likely be something to do with Barca being corrupt.

Yep, me too. Often a reason its leaked S well, often to raise interest from other clubs.

..could we just be deferring payment in order to spend on other purchases!!!

  With the Covid situation and perhaps shortage of funds, we can get back to collecting gate receipts when our coffers are more full 2 years down the road.

I think the only other teams that could get him are Premier League teams. Maybe RB Leipzig if they were interested. Our league is awash with money and that's what Barcelona will be looking to exploit.

The ones from left field have generally been leaked at the very end of negs (when agreement between the clubs is done) or simply announced by the club.  Unfortunately this one is leaked with no apparent agreement which likely means we won’t be completing a deal here ....

Romano is not the sort of journalist that will publish information he doesn't think is genuine. And we are not the sort of side that get named in these sorts of media mind games in transfer sagas - if you wanted a club to act and join the bidding war, you'd say someone 'bigger' than us was interested. Anyone seeing us getting a €50m bid rejected would say 'well I can't see them going any higher' and consider us out of it.

 

We knew about bids for Dennis Praet in June, and didn't sign him until deadline day. If we're the ones bidding it usually means we are favourites - the Italian press tried to stir up that Milan were interested in Praet but I'm not sure they ever were.

 

La Liga starts on the same day our season does, and Braga's season finished on 27 July. You would therefore expect Trincao himself is on holiday now and probably until the end of next week. So it will probably be a while before anything is to be agreed for him.

 

City don't bid for players they aren't confident of getting. Talks wouldn't still 'be on' if they weren't confident of getting the player. They wouldn't stand by and watch other quality players get snapped up while they pursued an impossible deal.

 

I think it's got a real chance, if Trincao wants games, who better than us is going to play him every week?

I see similar elements in this to what happened with Youri. A loan  move to start with then buy,  a young talented player who most of us think would never come here as they as too good . Another one although not young was Cambiasso I never believed we’d sign him in a million years even though he was coming to the end of his career . We can live in hope
