Is Jordan Henderson injured? 

 

Good luck to phillips had a lot of praise in the championship but it's a massive step up before even kicking a ball in the prem. 

 

If Southgate can get the mold of players right we have such a strong team.

The team who wins the league normally are but when compared to teams that have won it in the past they weren't anything special. I look more at the Readings and Leicesters and the teams that achieved higher points totals more favourably. I think Phillips should have had to prove himself in the premier league before getting called up. If he had had the season he had playing for Bristol city and they had won the league exactly like Leeds I don't even think there would have been a conversation about including him.

May as well just go all out attack every game. I know it’s not international football but Atalanta have proved if your defence is shit just play 7 up front and try to demolish teams.

I think Chilwell, Maguire, Gomez, TAA is a defence that is as good as any I think where England falls down is with GKs and quality in central midfield but hopefully if foden or Maddison or mount can really kick on then things are looking promising. 


squad depth is also an issue as well in some areas.

i hate that i say this.. but i dont care about england team anymore. Ill be a plastic world cup fan and euro fan obviously but Southgate is a fraud. Very hypocritical that he wouldn't pick Grealish in the championship and made a point about it but has picked a championship player in Phillips this time because he feels like it.

that is no reason not to pick him. hed be great for england in a team with more possession and the ball.

What a peculiar squad and with every breathe Southgate gets weirder and weirder. Grealish deserves to be in there and very pleased to see Foden in and a chance being taken on Phillips, even if it's earlier than others are afforded. We are muck in the DCM role and he will have little problem being as good, if not better there than Declan Rice. 

 

How will Man City and Man Utd players be available though? Makes no sense.

There was a clear change and progress when Ashworth was there, with the media, with squad selections not completely biased around sponsorship. It's a shame it all seems to be vanishing again.

 

As others have pointed out it highlights how short on quality we are, but he still clearly has his favourites. Mings tried his very best to relegate Aston Villa after the lockdown, meanwhile Wolves consistantly have one of the best defenses in the league and Coady is nowhere to be seen, even when we are low on numbers!

Yup, Maguire being in it after his noble and exemplary behaviour last week has killed following them for me, even half heartedly .

Honestly makes such a mockery of everything they've previously done with punishments. Makes a laughing stock of Sterling being punishment for an intersquad fight and Maddison being shunned for going to a casino. 

Maguire's involved in a bloody court case, accused of assaulting and trying to bribe a policeman. What about that needs "support" from the England manager. All he had to say was he'd spoken to Maguire and they felt it best he sat out of the fixtures. 

 

I lose more and more faith in the FA by the week.
