I was just thinking about this there....

I was wondering why the "big 6" are struggling and although its partly down to the quality of squads the likes of us, Everton, Wolves etc, have. Its probably MORE down to the level of managers kicking around 0utside the top 6..... Rodgers, Ancelotti, NES, Bielsa. It's not all Allardyce and Paerdews anymore!

Add to that, alot of the big six are going for young unproven managers like Lampard, Ole and Arteta.....

It's ok soon Mike Riley will bring out new referees and VAR guidance that all decisions must be in favour of the big six, only the big 6 can have penalties awarded by var,  onlybig 6 teams get a margin for error on offside goals on var. That should restore the order!

The really amusing thing about skys obsession with the so called big 6 is their huge payouts to other clubs has levelled the playing field. Clubs like ours and wolves etc dont jump at the first offer on our players, we bargain hard and make them pay well over the odds.

It's business though, init. It's not compatible with English fan culture. They don't know what they've got 'til it's gone. It will be too late by then but they won't care as the filthy lucre will have been made.

I hate this topic, I hate that around England/Wales that it is even a topic....

Everything about a Super League, is trying to Force fans of "the other clubs fans ,

to abandon  their own Club & become a plastic-fan of the " chosen few"

Its pure Marketing & major media-Outlet crap. Abusing ,misusing the idea the self-created idea & mentality of "Big -18" throughout europe.

It just means Maybe a group of 500 businesmen plus their cronies, can make for a Short time a massive amount of money,

then leave that source,as soon as it hits problems, but drain as much out of it as possible....Nothing more, nothing less..!!

What I dont understand in my naivity, is that those idiot-businessmen already have it...its called the 'Champions-league' ,

with top countries First 3-6th not just champions..!!!  Qualifying for the competition

This sort of Super-League is doomed to failure...The top clubs traditional fans will soon get bored,

and After the initial Adrenalin-pump will stay away, because watching L'pool vs Barcelona every season,

will be expensive and eventually boring....

Though the Media and some modern fans/supporters forget, the average & Main Terrace & old sofa-fan,

still want and enjoy watching their teams,Play their own country's ... " other teams-also rans".  I

Playing The likes of Ajax,Real madrid,Juventus every week wont make them feel special..!!

The obvious win point und danger to the idea is that it will collect in, the plastic W.wide millions of foreign-sofa-fans,

creating a similar Base to a (Not the) plastic " IPl- cricket' franchise.

After watching Man U v Chelsea. Man C struggled to a draw. Liverpool scrape a win and Arsenal getting out thought by some minnows from the midlands, FIFA called the "elite 6" and said: nah, you guys are alright.

OK Guys, this is just a thought.

If Man.Utd & Liverpool want to piss off to Europe, LET THEM GO!!!

Then the Rest of us & The Premier League gaffers invite Glasgow Rangers & Celtic to leave the Scottish Premier & come down & join us in the English Premier League?

I expect it will settle down as the weeks pass - the quick turnaround for the top clubs has clearly upset their prep

by the time Xmas arrives, I wouldn’t expect too much difference to last seasons finishing top eight

I disagree this season, purely because of the bigger teams in Europe as well as them having more internationals. It's such an advantage for teams like Villa to have a weeks break or two weeks break inbetween games.

I'm going for 2 of the traditional 'big 6' to miss out this year, probably end up being United and Arsenal or United and Chelsea.

I wish that you were right, but I fear otherwise. This forum regularly has pointless to and fro about ground size comparison, club size comparison, wage size comparison, fanbase size comparison, and so forth. It's as entrenched as class comparison, which is also difficult to get away from.

This seems to be a bit of a bugbear for you? :)

Personally, I find it interesting.  Times change and clubs grow or regress and we are surely in a period of growth.  It is interesting in order to gauge our progress as a club.

Six games in lads let’s not get excited.

We did this last year, especially with the “looks like the grass isn’t always greener Harry” shit and look how that worked out.

I just find it utterly pointless - for me, it's just glorified 'my Dad could beat up your Dad' ism. Whoever we play, I want us to win. I'm less interested in which clubs have vast corrupt wealth behind them and the significance of it, because it just reminds me how close to ruination football actually is.

Unlilely, of course, but would be great if Man Utd stay down there..

And Spurs. And Chelsea. And Man City. And Liverpool for that matter.

What was it that that unnamed Chairman of one of the so - called  Big 6 was reported to have said....."we can't risk having another Leicester".  Ha! Suck it up, big boy!

It’s clear this is a season where anyone can beat anyone (Apart from the baggies and Fulham who are both crap)

Should be close BUT it’s such early days.

Looking at the Maguire non penalty it looks like they've already started

It will make no difference to Sky, BT, BBC etc as they'll still bang on non-stop about the 6 no matter where they finish. Not sure what it'll take to shift that.

relegation...

Sorry to be that guy but the league is quite congested this season so it wouldn't surprise me 'the big 6' in the top 8 in 5-10 games time.

I take your point.  Sometimes I read posters on here claiming that we are bigger than Everton or Celtic for example and it is just embarrassing, but as a general discussion I find it interesting to make comparisons with where we are at, where we have been traditionally and where we're we are going.  It doesn't have to be competitive and it doesn't have to be about vanity.

Does anyone really care about the so called size of Everton and Celtic, it is pretty irrelevant what there wealth is or the size of the fan base as nothing last forever and times change as generations change.
