do youth/academy players still have to clean first team players boots?

dont most players have brand new boots for every game anyway?

maybe they only clean managers/coaches boots or first teamers training boots?

I remember seeing a clip of Milner on some podcast a few months ago (the clip itself may have been older) where he said youngsters these days have it all, and get it so easy these days.

He yearned for the days where he would clean boots for seniors early in his career and it would teach him discipline and standards etc.

Youngsters these days have the flash cars, big houses, everything on a plate for them before they've had a chance to 'earn it', so they think they've made it before they actually have.

It’d be classed as abuse in the workplace these days

No way is a bowling 300 as hard as a 147. My mate got a 300 and he wasn’t even pro. I’ve got a 230-odd game from just playing once a week for a year or two.

Since when did bulky waste collection from the council cost £40 for a small 2 seater sofa? No wonder people fly tip. I'll just buy the power tools for the same price to break it down and have the tools at the end of it.

We have several cans of gloss paint to dispose of after clearing my late BiL's shed. Tips/recycling centres wont take them nor will skip hire companies.

We googled what to do and the things that were suggested were completely impractical in our situation. I suspect others would be in the same boat.

It seems we're stuck with them. :dunno:

There can never be an excuse to fly tip

147 is the hardest solo achievement in sport IMO.

A hole in one is one shot you can fluke. You can't fluke 36 consecutive shots in snooker.

I'd say it's the hardest solo achievement for an amateur.

I would say that a golden set in tennis us the hardest solo achievement for a professional. Almost never happens.

An entire set is taking it too far though.

You could just as easily say win a snooker match 10-0 without conceding a point.

147 is 36 consecutive pots vs 24 points for a golden set.

He was probably in the generation which got the right balance. The one after him arent grounded, the one before him were basically bullied by older players.

A point could be any number of shots. Long rallies happen. Unless you're suggesting it's all aces and return aces?!!

147 takes skill but in tennis you have an opponent so golden set (if that is what i assume) is the more impressive feat.

Only makes the golden set harder!

Swear in player profiles in Match (and our programmes too?) one of the questions was always "Whose boots did you clean as an apprentice?"

There's a person in my office who sits opposite to me and I have not said a word to in two years. Today in our team mtg the Director asked her to do something, she smiled and nodded.

A few hours later another colleague asked her if she'd done said work, she smiled, nodded and had no idea what the work she was requested to do was.

The whole situation is hilariously bizarre. On the plus side I did hear her voice today after two years.

If you've had a ringer in your office defrauding a living for the last two plus years... well, I'll be honest, that'll be as funny as all hell. lol

I'm sure you, or someone, posted something similar to this about a year ago.

Other colleague - ‘have you done XYZ which John Doe mentioned this morning’

silent colleague - nodding and laughing - ‘no which work?’

’you know the work John Doe mentioned, you agreed to do it’

*awkward laughter*
