Tried to resist posting this, but can't help it. I thought that 2nd half shut up shop was frustrating, we have done that a lot this season which is fine bit given we've never thrown a 2 goal lead away under Rodgers prior to this season either I'm not sure why we do it? I don't think it conserves energy either, if anything it brings on more pressure and strain.

Fulham are abysmal and we could and should have hammered them.

We were an Albrighton stride back onside away from making it 3-0, may've been better after that.

Yeah probably, just felt we shut it down way too early and it was pretty grim.

Probably a good thing that we can do that and win comfortably. It helps with the amount of games we are playing.

Why though? Are you saying we conserved more energy backs to the wall for 40-45 minutes than setting traps and picking them apart with some attacking impetus from the likes of Ünder?

I've no problem with shutting down at 2 0 when we do it that comfortably. It was last season when we'd bring Wes on with 15 minutes left and defend for our lives with a one goal lead I'd have kittens.

Well played kelechi, I just hope he is now our outright number 2 striker, he offers so much more than the other options and yes he has the odd bad game but he's a very important part of this squad and if Vardy isn't fit should be an automatic replacement from now on.

We were in second gear and no need to really risk anything. It was good to see... felt it was hugely beneficial to make the game look so easy. It wasn’t like Fulham were totally on the front foot and peppering our goal.

I did have a suspicion - and I think it played out - that whatever happened bar them scoring , after about 15 mins we would shut up shop, wether wed scored another or not.  Rodgers seems to be more than willing to go for that.

Agree that it was a bit to early, a better team may well have scored. It's frustrating to watch a team like Fulham attack us so much. But I guess he takes that into account and decides let's keep them out and get the win.

Wasn’t a fan of going 5 at the back having just lost 2 defenders to injury by risking an extra one!

Not having an attacking outlet was pretty criminal.

We had zero chance to hit them on the counter

To be fair, The Liverpool result does make the desicion to take the points the right one. Wasn't what I wanted to see in terms of entertainment in the second half, but that dosent matter if we finish above them

We're on the edge at the moment. 5 key players are out so the rest of the back-ups are filling the first team and leaving probably two players on the bench who make a real difference.

We judged it that Fulham didn't offer much and playing out the game was the best way. I'd love us to go all out for a huge win- had this been in September we may well have done- but if there's no need to go for it then don't risk it.

Did we have our backs to the wall for 40-45 minutes? I don't remember that. It felt like we never came out of third gear which strikes me as saving energy. Would you have preferred they pushed themselves more and be open to injury? I can see that if the mentality of today's game seeps into the next where we can't get out of third and Wolves takes advantage of that you might have a point. But I'm not sure that's the fault of playing like we did in the second half but the mentality of the players and coaches unable to get them up for the match.

The one defeat that really annoyed me this season was Fulham at home.  I felt we thought we just had to turn up.

That is why I think the second half tonight was the right way to go about it.  We had these beaten and it would have been criminal to let it slip.

Someone posted on the pre-match thread hoping not for a repeat of Norwich away last season.  After tonight I am confident we have got the necessary steel to string another great winning run together.

Thought JJ was superb AGAIN and, like many have commented, Youri is a proper machine.

Rock on to Wolves

I actually thought it was very satisfying.

No doubt the game against Leeds tapped a lot of energy, with them forcing our players to run constantly, so withdrawing, conserving and being clever against Fulham was good to see.

No new injuries, some rest for Albrighton, Mendy and Perez and lots of minutes for Nacho, Ricardo, Cags and Hamza with Dan coming on and doing well too. Positives all around.

Fulham have proved all season (and against us) that they're effective on the counter but couldn't break down a low block if their lives depended on it.

Just plain daft to go chasing a game we'd already won.

Should have picked them off, something that's infinitely more easy when 2 goals to the good and they've got to push it. Its a subtle difference in approach, we'd have been no less vulnerable with Ünder up top with Iheanacho as the outlet on the counter.

Anyway, no harm done but its just a general observation this season that we are far more pragmatic when winning than previously. I don't particularly like it but if it works then fine, I don't think it conserves more energy though which is what people seem to think.

It wasn't a great spectacle but a win is a win and I'll take it.

27 passes in this move by the way :brendan_still:

Love it mate. Nice to see. I love how in a matter of seconds it goes from being calm, relaxed, controlled passing in to speed and precision and before you know it our left back has the ball in the 6 yard box!

It's why I don't mind our patient style of play. Suits our players and they are all moving off the ball waiting for that one particular moment to break and move up a gear.

Pretty average stuff most the time, but two good goals.
With the amount of injuries though, pretty pleased with a win and not being a double for Fulham 🙈

Thought Hamza did a bit more of an N’Didi role than what Mendy did Sunday, tracking

Mids late runs into our box. More athletic than Mendy, well done that man.
And well done Kelechi - thought he did a good job although he needed Maddison to keep

on at him all night about who and when to close 😂

Good result after Sundays debacle. Professional but not exceptional.

We're staying up.

From a personal point of view....YES. YES. YES :clap::clap::clap:

I desperately needed that win after the embarrassing defeat at home and dealing with the smugness of the Fulham supporting other half.
