Why would clubs be begging for a player who had spent years playing in Saudi Arabia, however good they were before they went?

Because he’d have little to no transfer fee. Have a look into it, players like Witsel, Hulk etc have done it and had great success. Just because someone goes to play in what is seen as an inferior league doesn’t mean they go to shit. Especially if they’re young enough.

If the option is Perez or Dan James on Loan for a season, what would people go with?

James every day and twice on Sunday.

We haven’t got the money for Berardi 😂

I don’t see how anyone can be as confident as this about the clubs finances. Nobody knows how much money we have.

Exactly this. For some people it’s just a job and more importantly a way to rise out of poverty (especially for a lot of Brazilian footballers). He may well not really care about football and just be good at it so for him furthering his career is earning more money rather than playing for more prestigious clubs. I can respect those who make this decision.

Albrighton over both of them. James would ok as cover for both wings but not the creative wide player we should be looking at bringing in to improve our starting 11.

What?  And the £65k a week for 4 years here wouldn’t be enough to pull his extended family out of the favellas?

You have one career and you’re going to be mega wealthy either route…. Play in a meaningful league and have a meaningful playing experience

Agreed. It's like selling your organs. Yeah you can do it but do you really need to do it?

Earn more money abroad, leave for free when contract runs out and come back to Europe with clubs begging for you.

not all players idolise playing in the prem as much as you’d think, it’s a short career and sometime money talks and not the idea of playing in a “meaningful league”.

It's already happening but in years to come the players who went chasing a bit more money in far out places like China and the Middle East regret it. Waste their careers. Fair enough towards the end but Pereira when the chips are stacked with have won the square root of fcuk all.

You could say that about many PL players though. As yet the majority of the Spurs squad haven't won anything. Most PL players outside the top 6 and Arsenal don't win any winners medals in their careers.

Better chance of getting yourself a move to a bigger PL team playing in the PL than in the Middle East though

Sorry, I should have worded " achieved the square root of fcuk all ". Thr money out there isn't even as insane as it was in China. He'd likely earn £75k a week off the bat at us or West Ham and a successful season or so and he's on £100k a week quite quickly and a platform to make a name for himself in the game.

Very bizarre. If someone offered me double my wages to go and work in Saudi Arabia I'd egg them, let alone for only about a quarter or half more.

I don’t think they’ll regret it one bit, who wouldn’t want to try a whole new living experience in a different country for ultimately more money?

lots of players don’t win anything, but does it actually matter?

Any player that goes to Qatar... China... Saudi Arabia... Etc isn't going for a new living experience, it's for money pure and simple. Look at all those brasilians that went to China. Who thinks they learned a word of Chinese?

Don’t be so narrow minded, why wouldn’t someone want to experience as many cultures and countries in this life? It’s not all about England

I’m not saying it’s a perfect place to move by any stretch, but I won’t be SO annoyed to see him going there.

Any player willing to go to Saudi Arabia, China (when they could get paid loads) etc. shows very little career aspiration to me

For some it’s about stuffing as much in the bank as quickly as possible and then feet up.

And that’s fine, I just don’t think they’re clearly bothered

Hahahahaaaa I'm not sure if you're intentionally being ironic here but it's made me laugh. Saudi Arabia is possibly the most narrow minded country in the world 😂😂😂😂😂
