Popular Post jeffschlupp Posted 29 July 2021 Popular Post Posted 29 July 2021 Directors and agents like Romano because he's not tied to any particular media source that they don't like or have past issues with, and he just reports the news that he gets when he is sure it's factual. Lots of clubs have been stung by briefing certain papers before and then watched them make things up or bring the club into disrepute. He's a likeable bloke and he's made a brilliant career off networking with the best of them. People can get annoyed by the 'here we go' stuff but it works because you know when he says it, it's a done deal. There's no 'X club is closing in' or 'Y club set to sign', it's just facts. I notice Percy has had virtually nothing breaking on us for the best part of 12 months. Romano called Daka, Bertrand and Soumaré before any other informed source - I think City have struck up a good relationship with him. 10

Doesn't write the stories AFAIK, just provides the info and someone ghost writes it for him. By my comments I meant he's not the sort that is going to show up to a certain club's press conference every week and forge any sort of regular relationship with a club or manager in that sense that could be damaging.

Like you said, gotta hand it to Romano tbh. His work alone that has built him up to basically become a household name for football fans. The bloke is a genius. Whilst people might not like his slogans and that he does twitch streams now and stuff but the man has branched out and done things differently, so fair play to him. 2

But he generates a lot of hype too… it will probably be a rehash of what he said the other day. is fab a hype merchant? yes am i going to willingly allow myself to fall for that hype? even more yes 2

DezFox Posted 29 July 2021 Posted 29 July 2021 If you think I’m gonna get carried away again and eagerly anticipate the next tweet from fab then you are absolutely correct. Bring it on Fab! 😂 1
FoxOnWheels Posted 29 July 2021 Posted 29 July 2021 Think it will be West Ham I reckon they will move for him before we maybe can as we haven’t moved anyone on

There’s definitely been a shift this summer in how we’re reported. Daka was initially reported by Mike McGrath in the Telegraph before Fab, who credited him in his first tweet about it. Percy seems to break Midlands/“lower level” news (he broke Ange to Celtic; I think he still has a good relationship with the club and is ‘the authority’ on us at the Telegraph, but to me it seems like he’s been moved off us as our profile has grown out of his remit. I don’t remember Romano covering us as much as he has this summer. Perhaps we’re being treated with a bit more focus than before?!
cruzFOX Posted 29 July 2021 Posted 29 July 2021 Will be really interesting how this winger position tuns out for us. I reckon our recruiting dept. is pretty cunning and is making noises with several targets even though only one of them might be the serious one. Kinda like a smoke screen to throw everyone off our scent. With the known wingers available ie Perreira, Bailey, Berrardi etc. seems like Leicester, Everton, West Ham and Villa are all looking at them. Nobody wants to pay over the odds. Even Villa could have wrapped up the Bailey transfer this week but chose to drag it out by only offering 30 mill when the asking price is still 35 mill. Depending on the club I wonder how these 3 targets rank in order of priority. 1
