Me neither, I just fail to comprehend why everyone is so desperate to replace him and thinks he's so poor compared to these guys linked on here that people are desperate to sign (most have hardly seen any of them play)

Stop defending a guy who offers nothing. Move on, he’s useless. Pereira would offer so much more. He’s got great delivery from wide areas and also technically great on the ball.

He scored 2 goals last season mate, he's indefensible. He also played in his supposed favoured position and was even worse.

Must have very different definitions of ‘offers nothing’ and ‘useless’ lol

Literally about 3 posters always defend him. Everyone else has realised he’s useless. What does he offer then that pereira doesn’t?? What has Perez done in his time here that makes you think he’s as good a player as Pereira?

I’ve made plenty enough posts to build up a case as to why Perez isn’t as bad as you both think.

Go through my profile, or back through these threads clamouring for a winger, and you’ll see why.

Personally, I wouldn’t be against a right winger coming in, but I don’t think it’s realistic to think we’ll sign someone with Barnes’ output taking into account what we’ve already spent this summer and what’s on the market at this moment in time.

In my opinion, if we are going to sign someone in that position then it should be a young prospect who isn’t going to demand big game time or cost a lot of money and can be nurtured into the next Barnes. I do have a feeling we’ve already got that in Sowah though. I also think we’ll mostly utilise a 2 striker formation to get the best out of Vardy, Daka and Iheanacho. Barnes and Maddison will be chief support to the two strikers, and then Perez and Albrighton will be squad options when we choose to occasionally utilise a system that involves a right sided player.

If Sowah doesn’t seem to be good enough, the 2 striker formation doesn’t work, Vardy’s legs go over the next 12 months or Albrighton doesn’t get an extension, then that’s the time to go balls deep on a big money wide man.

But it’s not really a priority at this moment in time if you take a realistic outlook on things. Wingers/wide forwards only really make a big difference if they’re up there of the standard of Barnes in terms of output. If not, then I’d rather have players like Perez or Albrighton who contribute tactically and suit our style of play as squad members for the time being.

The final option (and the only one I think Rodgers seems bothered about) is Coutinho, and that’s dependant on many variables, like Barca not shafting us on the wage front. If not, we just stick with what we’ve got.

As like you I've made my mind on here about Perez and my detailed reasons why. I'd like to reiterate one final point though in that our team is pace based down the flanks. That should be simple in relation to Perez but it isn't because liabilities like Perez don't track back and put in that effort. He also doesn't possess pace. He doesn't score enough, provide enough, he seems to be on each referees watch list for every match to look for him falling over people (well nearly). £30million, seriously?

I've slated Perez to high heaven but he contributed far more on the wing than he ever has centrally. He had 1 good game away at West Ham I think it was behind the strikers and other than that it's been a disaster class in how to play your supposed preferred position.

Out wide he was wildly inconsistent but certain games he was excellent and also had way more shots and created more chances out there too.

Sorry, any argument that says that Perez doesn’t track back or put effort in is a straight void. His work rate is one of his biggest assets, it’s clear you just don’t rate the bloke and that’s fine, but at least make a sensible argument as to why.

To be fair, I think he is saying that his tracking back does not excuse his lack of goal scoring or chance creation, but that’s a bit simplistic for me. Is he less than what we expected? Sure, but we have him, he cost a fortune, we just need to get over it as he is here. No amount of bitching and moaning is going to change that or make anyone look smart.

Yeah it was @pmcla26. I'm not meaning to make him look awful because he isn't and like ric was just referring to, I thought he was far better playing out wide than centrally. His positioning and intricate footwork, overlapping balls and picking players out centrally or in the box were fantastic. But I stick by the rest really.

It sometimes makes me wonder quite why he doesn’t do better, is it just because he falls over or is brushed off the ball too easily? Maybe he isn’t dynamic enough, too slow to move the ball maybe.

That's a great point. You look at grealish or maddison and draw the player in whereas perez seems to expect the player to come to him? He has such talent and his footwork can be sensational. But most games he just doesn't look like he's enjoying his day in the office and is clocking off early! Thanks for helping with the previous message btw earlier.

Where's Fabrizio said this?

Pretty sure it was on the Leicester Till I Die video from yesterday, was an interesting watch tbf, even if Romano didn’t say a huge amount on transfers he was very complimentary about Leicester and how we are perceived across the continent.

How often do you see swap deals? Far too complicated, Perez is on more than they would offer so for that to happen he probably needs to halve his wage or we offer to pay half for the duration of his contract.

Not happening.

There's actually a forum ban for suggesting swap deals.
