Its a strange one as I think its one of the those occasions when the players will probably be more up for this than the fans for the reasons you've mentioned. The players will want champions league football so this might work out in our favour this evening.

I think we just have to accept the FA Cup and Europa League is an unbelievable achievement for the season and I'm one of those who would prioritise CL over the FA Cup. That said we are very much in with a chance of top 4 but it will depend on the players state of mind and the bit of luck we require to get there, and not losing tonight would be a great start.

Us winning the fa cup, having already secured 5th place leaves the door open for 7th place to get the final European slot. Hope whu and Everton do the business and dump spurs into 8th place.

England are on allowed 7 entrants in European competition.

If we get a result tonight it will be down to sheer steel and turning around their home advantage with a crowd - particularly after beating them in the FA Cup Final in the manner that we did. We are at a big disadvantage tonight, but hopefully BR and the lads can flip that and turn it into a positive.

I can’t see it myself, but obviously hope I’m proved wrong. Having said that I’ve seen little in Chelsea’s recent performances that scares me.

We don't have to win but Chelsea do. I think we sit back and hit them on the counter tonight, especially with the players we have up front.

100% this, I can see a red card for chelsea with Vardy being left 1 on 1 at some point, and a defender going

I think all 3 of those - and particularly Spurs - would rather finish outside of Europe entirely rather than have to trek around Europe to play games against Bulgarian farmers for negligible prize money. The fixture pile-up would much rather be avoided I'm sure.

I'm hoping WHU do enough for 6th and Everton struggle, so Spurs end up with the booby prize.

Yes. Normally top 4 CL plus 5th place and the two cup winners into EL. As the league cup was won by Man City, and the fa cup by us, that means that 6th and 7th get those two places now.

I am keeping out of the Match Thread tonight. Do not need that additional stress.

I think it's a bit of a shame that the players aren't able to enjoy winning the cup properly. Winning the FA Cup for us should be joy for weeks for the players but just three days later it's another massive game.

If they win tonight they can give up training, playing and just and drink themselves stupid for weeks on end, if that’s their pleasure. I’m sure they won’t mind waiting three days since the cup win for that.

This shake up of the European competitions does have some potential implications. Does it now mean that, if teams outside the top four win the cups and get EL, 5th place would only get the farmers conference cup or has the league cup been demoted.?

i hope that is not the case as it potentially cuts off another route to “proper” European competition for all but the privileged few. Either way, makes top 4 even more important in future and simply strengthens the strangle hold that the super rich clubs already have.

I'm actually struggling to get up for the last two games after Saturday.

It'll be a real shame if we don't finish as high up as we're capable of but anything really does pale into insignificance with what we've just achieved.

Win tonight and they can celebrate all week and have an all nighter on the Saturday night. Turn up vs Spurs like drunk zombies get smashed 6-0 with a double hat trick from Kane and I still wouldn’t give a ****.

Singing to Kane ‘FA Cup champions you’ll never sing that’.

Chillwell has to start and I think he will. He's the engine that drives the rapidly ball upfield he can get in behind us. Granted, although that tends to involve arriving at the byline before anyone else, he can (contrary to popular wisdom on here), deliver dangerous and accurate crosses both during play and deadball situations even if his decision making can occasionally be questioned.

Havertz and Pulisic to play a role in this - in fact I'm just reading that Werner is expected to be dropped in favour of the latter. They may also favour Kovačić over Jorginho. Our high line worries me as does Mount. Target and load Azpilicueta, - never looks comfortable to me as a right sided CB...although I thought Reece James had a decent game on Saturday and will likely play as rwb, Wish we had Barnes for this.  The reversion back to Mendy is frankly a better prospect for them than Kepa.

I don't expect this to be as tentative/nervy or them to stand off to the degree that they did on Saturday despite their spells of possession in the first half. Similarly we need to go for the kill. I expect that on the contrary though, we'll try to contain them for 65 minutes before pulling the pin.

Fully agree with the original poster here. If we win tonight, those players deserve all the credit possible because of the natural highs and the concentration required. Just as Saturday was, it’s going to be down to organisation and concentration. They will have a lot more pace on the pitch tonight and we probably gonna have to defend deep.

I worked out yesterday that if we win one more and collect 69 points - that’s an average required figure for top 4, so a failure from that is actually harsh on any team, let alone.

It would be lovely to have a favour from somewhere. You get the feeling, there’s one more twist in the tale of the season and Vardy may well be part of it
