the world will still flock to watch the great bands from this country , even if they dont think much of us, because its one area that the rest of europe especially cannot compete with us

Totally agree. UK bands are among the best in the world

No way was the UK song the worst, again highlights how we are viewed in Europe.

I thought Norway’s was the best, but even they struggled.

I have to disagree. I thought the UKs was the worst by a long way. The guy either couldn’t sing or his voice had gone. He was shocking.

I personally thought the German & Lithuanian were worse.

Actually I’ll give you Germany 😂 I’d blanked that atrocity out of my mind. Can’t recall Lithuania but I don’t think the UK deserved anything and Germany deserved minus points

Have to agree with this. I think people get carried away with Norton brain washing them into thinking it was half decent. It was truly awful.

That's probably the weirdest winner of Eurovision I've ever seen.  Has Europe never heard a rock song before?  Unbelievably generic.

As for the UK, seriously no need getting wound up.  We've treated it like a joke for years.  No serious artist wants to touch it with a bargepole.  We don't even put any money or effort in to the staging/choreography/special effects.

At the end of the day our song made it to a whooping 43 in the UK downloads chart.  If even we don't buy/stream it, why do expect the rest of Europe to like it?

When the song is average at best and when you've heard better vocals coming out of the Market Tavern then you really have no reason to complain.

I thought the UK's song was really flat and it really hit home when the short montages were played just how bad it was.

It got what it deserved unfortunately. Nothing political.

Lets get this right.....

We can say it's politically motivated all we want but the truth of the matter is that Israel got about 90 odd points more than the UK...

Maybe we were just pish?!

That's three hours I'll never get back, about time we walked away from the Eurovision bad song or not, its so clear we're not respected. Our sang was bad yes but when comparing to the likes of Germany who honestly showed no interest what so no interest whatsoever to get more points than us just sums up for me. BBC lets just save our money and put it into something useful like... I dunno giving into the NHS for example rather than giving the money to competition that we'll never win again and disliked to hell in.... Oh and thanks for Amanda Holden for making it worse.

Bit of a chicken and egg situation, really: did the UK stop taking it seriously before, after, or because of it giving pretty much the entirety of Europe the middle finger a while back?

Congrats to Italy, anyhow.

dude, I don’t think it’s funded from the same budget as the NHS, so not like that entry is competing.  in fact… from the website:

How is the Eurovision Song Contest financed?

The Eurovision Song Contest is a non-profit event, mostly financed by:

  • contributions from the Participating Broadcasters (the so-called participation fee), adding up to €6.2 million combined. This fee is different for each country based on the solidarity principle that the strongest shoulders carry the most weight. It is at the sole discretion of each Participating Broadcaster to decide if they wish to make public the financial details of their participation;

  • a contribution from the Host Broadcaster, which is generally between €10 and €20 million, depending on local circumstances and available resources.

  • a contribution from the Host City, either financially or 'in kind' (e.g. covering expenses of city branding, side events, security, etc.);

  • commercial revenue from sponsorship agreements, ticket sales, televoting and merchandise, which varies from year to year.

On average, over 90% of all available funds are being earmarked for the TV production and event organisation. Approximately 5% of available funds represent the budget for the EBU's Eurovision Song Contest team and its partners. Any remaining funds are being reimbursed to the Participating Broadcasters, for as long local legislation allows such reimbursement. The budget is overlooked and approved by the Reference Group, on behalf of all Participating Broadcasters, on an annual basis.”

if we lose these euros but win the one in June, I’ll be happy.

We must be paid good money to enter and I know it’s a bit of fun but is there any point in us entering ?

Because it’s fun and we always have. Why enter the World Cup or the Euros, or any tournament? Just because our entry this year was crap, and by the way, beat other entries in the Song for Europe, doesn’t mean we should bow out. It was objectively crap this year. Like, really bad. Not even fun like Iceland’s.

It gives "Johnny Foreigner" the chance to vent his frustration every year. Must be better than invading your neighbours every 25 years or so!!

Fair enough - we always seem to be at the bottom now so maybe don’t really bother trying to get a decent entry in.

It really doesn't matter but it reflects what the rest of Europe think of us

More like it's what we think of Europe.

Would you give us any points if you we're from another European country?, not only a poor song but Eurovision is all about togetherness and cooperation, it's hardly a surprise.
