Not a lingaard fanboy, but why leave him out of the euros? He’s basically rejuvenated West Ham and must be one of the most inform English midfielders . Seems a bit daft from Southgate the defender

Not enough marketability.

They want footballers who sell replica shirts, burgers and credit cards.

They’re not bothered about in-form players or winning.

Is our status of bookies faves (joint with La France) for the tournament at all founded? Are we meant to be that good?

Haven’t you seen the sensationally exciting, world-beating football this England team play Col?

I know we won’t start with this team or set up but when you look at some of the teams in the tourno... a little surprised we’re joint faves tbh

why lay 8/1 when punters will willingly take 5/1

Personally, I think we’ve steadily gone downhill since we beat Germany 5-1 in 2001

We’d have won Euro 2004 with a fit Rooney

I think the explanation of that is more about other teams than England. Apart from France no other team strikes me as front runners for the tournament. All major nations are having issues and England and France are probably best positioned to go far. Belgium is the other obvious choice but I get the sense that their golden generation is on the wrong side of their peak and aren’t as strong as two years ago.

If Grealish wants to go to next level then he needs to learn how to occasionally stay on his feet.

Kane walks around the pitch for England like the guy who thinks hes above the level of the 5 side game he is playing in.

We have a squad that could win the euros but we won’t with Southgate in charge. He can’t or won’t coach dynamic enough football - we actually have decent enough attacking players but he compounds any deeper creative issues with his selections.

England don't have the level of player that the likes of France or Belgium do, and we just don't have the level of intelligence of the Spanish.
