Derby flounted the rules and bragged about it. They openly fiddled the books, and the fans lapped it up claiming Mel to be a mastermind sticking the V's up to the EFL

They had this coming and I definitely don't feel sorry for them lol they laughed when Birmingham were in the same situation, and cov, and us

All owners will be dodgy and do what they need to get the club at the best level. Unfortunately there's not much fans can do. Seeing a club go is horrific, not just for the fan base but the community too. That's without even considering non footballing people who'll lose their jobs. Not nice to see.

Any enjoying the demise of Derby isn't a football fan.

Laughing at their failure on the pitch is one thing, but taking pleasure on people losing their jobs, watching a institution of 137 years and a founder members of the Football League go bust is another.

We could have gone the way of Bury in the 00s

If it was just because it was financial struggles then yeah okay.

But they actively fiddled the books, bragged about it (selling ground to themselves for inflated prices, fake proposed buyers, 32red deals with staff to avoid ffp)

They brought this on themselves, even the club statement blamed everyone else but themselves! lol

Mel Morris is a conman! The statement blaming it all on covid is laughable. The points deduction and relegation was happening anyway for all the financial irregularities during his ownership. So taking the administration to wipe the debts is just another part of his scam.

Football as a business is ridiculous and until astrometric wages top down are stopped these things will keep happening.

That's the problem. Fans should have a say because it's not their fault that some idiots have bought their club. Fans need a voice and this government won't do anything (not a surprise lol, just as Jow the premier league won't ban man city or Chelsea for dodgy dealings To say the least lol)

No, it's never nice to see any club in that mess, already being discussed in Championship thread.

Big clubs got away with it. Pure corruption.

Didn't we get away with it?

All clubs do that. Our fans back anything our ownership does and some of the stuff has been dodgy. Thankfully we got promoted but do not forget we made a 20m+ loss

Fans have no control over what owners do.

I was referring to super league but we settled with football league, as I've just posted, yeah.

theres possibly 5-6 people max who made all those decisions and it’s certainly not those that cool hand fox is feeling sorry for. the club was there before them and they’ve  brought it all to its knees and put hundreds of non complicit peoples Jobs on the line… we could have the most corrupt owner in the world but if our club went down like this my  8 year old son would be devastated. So would I in fact. That’s all he’s talking about.

Same at Forest, I would love them to get back to somewhere near their former glory days. Leicester v Forest used to be one of the best fixtures on the list for me. Sadly I can't see it happening, probably ever.

The last point is that it’s still baffles me how those so called big six still got away with trying to ruin football and did not get any points deduction

Simple, there was no rule stating what would happen if they did what they did. So any punishment would be argued in the courts forever by several billionaires.

It's one thing to see them relegated to League 2 for hilarity but that's people's club and team. Doesn't matter what team it is - they're important to people and communities.

I'd hope they would be reborn as a Phoenix club if they did go.
