Free Falling Foxes Posted 3 June 2021 Posted 3 June 2021 Community Shield: Man City v Leicester City on 7 August - BBC Sport Thought I would post this BBC link as it also contains several replays of Youri's goal. Never get fed-up watching that.

The Belgians will probably be late back from the Euros. Footballers will be having short breaks for the next year, that's obvious considering Euros have been moved forwards to this year then the league starts then it's the World Cup.. Most good sides have players that won't be getting much rest. It's a negative side of having good players, being a good side, but ask the players if they'd rather just miss out the Euro's and I bet they'd say no. Competitions like this don't come around that often in a players career. Short breaks is just something we'll be dealing with for the next 18 months or so.

The World Cup isn’t until the winter of 2022 rather than the summer though, so they’ll all have a decent break at the end of next season.

cruzFOX Posted 3 June 2021 Posted 3 June 2021 Will be a good game and a day out for all. Still remember the charity shield against manu after we won the title.

I'd not remember that day. Stupidly hot, with seats down the front and no shield from the sun other than the free t-shirt (although I was on telly when Vardy scored). Pissed up City fans kicking off because of standing and £2.50 for a plastic cup of water (water bottle confiscated at turnstile). Horrible stadium with rubbish views. And we lost. 1

moore_94 Posted 3 June 2021 Posted 3 June 2021 Pretty cheap rooms at the Ibis Hotel right next to Wembley, just booked 3 rooms for 4 people for £240 (can cancel up to 2pm on the day as well just in case we can't get tickets) Anyone know of anywhere good to park nearby?

To save you driving all the way in to Wembley (which can be a nightmare), you can park at Stanmore then get the Jubilee line to travel to Wembley Park. 1

Will they though? It depends where they play the games that would have happened during November/December. There will be 6 weeks of no domestic football or European football for that matter. They either start the season in July 2022, or extend the season to June 2023 (no idea what other tournaments are planned in then). My guess is they will start the season much earlier and thus only a short summer break again.

Can see the league cup being scrapped that season maybe?

It's a good job the new CL format doesn't kick in until after (probably planned that way). I would say more midweek games but there really are little to no spots and some teams will be guaranteed to play every 3 to 4 days for the full season. The EFL Cup is an obvious casualty although non-PL teams will probably have their say too. It's got to give sooner or later hasn't it?

I wonder if they’ll just give the teams that are gonna miss out x amount of money for the league cup season.

Wrighty22 Posted 5 June 2021 Posted 5 June 2021 I suspect any ticket information will be delayed until a decision has been made regarding the next phase of re-opening roadmap. The club announced it early July in 2016.

leicesterseddon Posted 5 June 2021 Posted 5 June 2021 I think both sides would sell out tbh. I think there’s pent-up demand to do things that have been banned during the pandemic, including live sport. However, I don’t think the authorities will allow a full ground. But let’s see.
