Yes. You can only beat whats put in front of you.

Which was Germany from the group of death then a 4 nil thrashing against a ln opponent everyone was saying is dangerous.. where does it end, reminds me of those picking at straws to call leicester I’m the title winning season and fa cup win. Not about beating those in front England beat the best possible to that point. Topped the group, beat Germany and rinsed ukarine

The group of death that knackered itself. England were casually cruising, and then they had to go and show off against a weak Ukraine. But Italy or Spain will be knackered. I just hope we make light of Denmark. Then we should be well equipped for the final.

It is tournament football knackered by what, playing three games like everyone else… ? the best teams save the best for last, England shown their credentials I’m not making excuses for 3 games of football… when teams go seasons with games, no one was tired lol

They had to fight to get out of their group. Even Hungary threatened them. England are masters of the easy route. We've got to make the most of it this time.

So topping the group beating Germany is not good enough… what do Southgate and this very young england team need to do… to show we are moving forward? just tell me?not only that making light work of a fellow QF team?

I will add 8 scored 0 conceded as well

Nah …. 2 0 would be fine with Kasper making loads of great saves ..  especially to stop Slabhead scoring ….  (Kane always puts one past him though) ..  :)).

I appear to have sobered up ….

There is no pleasing some, not just on here but on social media in general regarding England's route to the semis.

You could say Denmark scraped through the group with a win against a poor Russia side, beat possibly the easiest team left in the last 16 and beat a team ranked only 40th in the world in the quarters where they were up against it for parts of the second half.

Of course, that would be downplaying

how good Denmark are and their potential threats on Wednesday but why do it with England and not with others?

Denmark are pretty poor, better than Ukraine but we should see them off no problem, especially with home advantage.

I find it weird that adding context to an argument is frowned upon lol

Theres only one team for us to worry about at this stage and that's the Italians.

Pretty poor?

Denmark are ranked 10th in the world. Someone posted another more accurate ranking system that has them 9th, just one place below England.

They have only lost to one team in the last three years, the world number ones Belgium. (Obviously ignoring the Finland game for understandable reason)

They have a good, well drilled team. Maehle and Dolberg have been two of the best players at this tournament. The front three all look sharp. Christensen has been excellent at the back, and seemless moved into midfield in the Wales game, which also shows they have a manager who is switched on and prepared to change things.

Underestimate them all you want, this will be our toughest test so far.

If you're in your late 30's like me or younger then you won't have witnessed a bigger win in a knockout game, in fact to have done so you'll be in your late 50's or older.

Drink it in. Oh, and Kasper can bollocks on Wednesday.

So what have I seen? I’m 48 🤣

Pretty poor may have been an exaggeration tbf :D

Comfortably our toughest test as that Germany team looked like they'd never met each other.

Were still better than Denmark and seem to have an incredibly happy and hardworking camp . So I cant see us being out worked. Man for man our players are of better quality.

Anything but qualification for the final would be an upset for me. Especially with home advantage.

Unless something mad happens like a red card or they score a couple of worldies, I just cant see how we dont win.

We should be qualifying for the final, that true

But France should have knocked out Switzerland, Netherlands should have seen off the Czechs etc. These teams are below the level of Denmark and have knocked out teams like that, I think we need to be wary of getting over cocky thinking we'll walk this.

I think there's many ways we don't win, as I said they are a good well drilled side, with sharp attacker and some of the stars of the tournament, they fully deserve their place in the semis. Saying they'll only win if we **** up, is hugely disrespectful. I think you'll be surprised how much we have to work for this on Wednesday.

England had the easiest draw possible to the final in the World Cup but in the end were outbattled by a Croatia side playing at the top of their game.

This EUROs, England have been gifted another easy route to the final.

However, the job still has to be done and you can only beat what is in front of you. England cannot be blamed for playing weak oppositions, they just get the job done. That is a sign of a champion team. Of course it is rewarding if you beat all the best teams on your way but a trophy is a trophy.

We don’t play football nicely like the Italians, but we’re rock solid at the back. They aren’t.

This will be the Italy that have conceded 2 goals in their last 12? They came into the tournament having won all their previous 8 games without conceding.

They're as good at the back as we are.

Yeah was pissed when I wrote that without having looked at the stats. Happy to be corrected, it will be a great game.

And yet three years ago the country was desperate to finish 2nd for the easier route.

This is the nature of a cup competition with pre-determined routes. There's every chance you'll avoid some big hitters but you can't knock England for that, we finished top of the group, nothing contrived about it.

I think the last "true" champion in a tournament was the England cricket team who played everyone else in the group stage and the top four went through to the semi-finals. If other big nations aren't up to it, that is their problem, not England's.

Just for context England are 4th in the FIFA rankings

Ukraine are 24th.

Its like Chelsea v Swansea.

Denmark play as a team - that is their greatest strength.

Very true, but I think that’s our greatest strength too this time HPF
