I just came in to say similar, it's rubbish for those directly affected obviously, but maybe this will be the wake up call that some people need.

I live near some grassland and I do feel more vulnerable than I could have imagined. Just hope people take care.

Blaby

Was a 2 minutes, suspect it's done now the patio has dried already!

I’d love even 2 minutes of rain right now , it’s like the house has been superheated and won’t cool down.

If it becomes a regular occurrence in the UK like it is here you will all adapt. We regularly have small wild fires, there was one just up the road from me yesterday, another about 30km away today just across the road from my friends house, they happen all the time.

But we have an app that the firefighters use to keep us updated, and virtually every big town has a fire fighting helicopter.

We too are surrounded by grassland (tinder!) but you just learn to be vigilant. We also have very strict rules here around barbecues, bonfires, leaving litter and discarding cigarettes, people here just generally seem to have a bit more common sense, but that comes with living somewhere so vulnerable I guess.

Brilliant. Vote Yorkie.

Dog came running in just as I was typing. But if you’ve already got your reply ready before I answer, it’s a bit pointless actually writing anything, init.

I don't want anybody seething so I'll explain the thinking.

The first part of the post isn't directly linked to the humorous intent but it sort of sets the scene a bit and the comment about the pool in my garden being warmer than those I've been in in the Mediterranean and that being 'a bit mad' is me saying this is weird,  unusual and in no way suggesting this is welcome or desirable.

The second bit is where the comic value was meant to be found but you'd have to ask the now two people that laughed to see if it worked.  It was meant to be an absurdist statement,  implying as it does that uncontrolled fire could somehow be a price worth paying for perceived 'holiday' weather,  the ridiculousness of the position being further strengthened by the reality that it was actually too hot on the imaginary holiday anyway. It was taking the piss out of the quite common position that this is all very jolly and not an increasingly immediate global catastrophe in the making, as taken by a fair few folk on here and large sections of our beloved print media.

Always DELIGHTED to clarify but if this becomes a habit I'm going to have to cut my work hours and times is hard enough as it is

Thanks for clarification

Going to have to put some cold water in the tropical fish tank because the water in there is just too darn hot.

Yet more unprecedented scenes

That is ridiculous idea! Poor fish! At least give them some ice cubes…

If I had some treated water ready and frozen I'd do that! It's about 5 degrees too high and I bet it'll take ages to cool down if I don't do anything
