Laughable that people can’t see it. Same old crowd over and over again shifting their bullshit from one thing to the next.

They've gone a bit quiet on here over the last day or so, funnily enough.

Well that was an awful night

I had to channel hop including some home shopping channels as o cpuldnt sleep from 1 til 3. Ain't done that for years!!! Horrible.

Nice breeze now, but reckon I'll need a nap later.

Spent most of the day yesterday in LRI' A and E with my sick dad and it really was agony.

It was sickly, and challenging for a relatively fit person, God forbid this becomes regular.

We had a bucket filled with ice under a fan, frozen sheets and tea towels and than night was still awful. Currently getting ready for work in a cold bath!

Nice to actually open the windows now and try and get some fresh air into the house.

Trying the same at work. Stuffy as balls in here this morning still.

Feel like last night was better than night before. Maybe the cool drop in temp and rain just after sunset helped.

Was brutal last night where I am. Not the best prep for a morning at work followed by bowling and a pub crawl.

I've slept alright the last couple of nights because I'm so drained by the heat in the day I'm absolutely exhausted by bedtime.

Not even my terror about what the future holds can keep me awake

London fire service had its busiest day since World War II.

Got to say, for all those “the mainstream media is overplaying this heat. It’s just like going on holiday to southern France” types on here a couple of days ago, I actually think the media underplayed and didn’t report enough about the potential wildfires.

Maybe it’s because it’s still new though and something we will have to get to grips with in the future. Feel for those whose homes were destroyed of course though.

You can't seriously be suggesting that the mainstream media would downplay the effects of climate change? That's not what Alex Jones told me at all.

XR smashed News UK's windows in protest at that very thing the other day.

I'd have gone further, personally, but fair enough like

If you live in relatively new build with an insulated loft, open your loft hatch at night. The heat goes up and it drops a few degrees.

Remember to shut it before the sun comes up though.

If there is a very small plus side to see those houses burning, it's that the core boomer/Brexit/nationalist part of the population will perhaps realise that climate change is a thing, and it will destroy land and habitats here, not just in Africa or the third world. Of course it's probably too late already, but we can at least try.

Do you need to shut it again? Because if you do I've been getting this wrong by having it open all the time

That’s what I was told, the loft gets very hot in the day so the heat will radiate into the house but it cools once the sun goes down.

I haven’t tried leaving it open in the day to see.

That does make sense actually,  it gets SO hot up there it's going to radiate in all directions I guess, cannot rely on all the heat heading upwards

If I leave our loft door open on hot days, the house gets hot. At school, we're told that hot air rises. Well, only if the air above it is cooler! The second law of thermodynamics tells us that heat (or in this case hot air) cannot of itself pass from a cooler to a hotter body. Hot air is less dense, i.e. lighter than cooler air, so from that perspective also, there's no reason why hot air should move upwards unless it's replacing cooler air.
