Bit more of answer on sky sports where he refused to answer question among lines of ‘is he not for sale or would you sell for the right price’

Interestingly , is Rodgers even in the loop?

You would think so as he played last night

if a deal was close or 50 percent near.

The asset would not be risked.

What did Rodgers say in the weeks leading up to the Chillwell and Slabhead transfers? Really hope we've already told Arsenal to f off

The inference is though that he, Rodgers, will have little say in whether Maddison leaves. He will continue to select him for the team as that is his job but if the club decides to sell he cannot veto that decision. It makes team planning a short term thing at best.

If we sell him from under Rodgers nose he will be the next one gone.

Top is in charge not Mike Ashley. Top does not work like that. Honesty is paramount in Thai culture.

Yeah I saw that. I don’t know what else that journo expected. The answer is obvious, he is for sale at the right price. Every player is. If someone pays £100m, Maddison will leave. But if he says it, it will make big headlines needlessly and unsettle the player.

I’ve answered my own question there, he asked a loaded question looking for a headline, Rodgers didn’t bite.

he did swerve the follow up question a bit though when asked to confirm that he's not for sale

Every player has a price, you just end up making yourself look like a tit, if you say not for sale, then next week Real Madrid rock up and offer you 100m

Ultimately it's a daft question designed to do exactly what happened.

Brendan can't give fans any sort of confidence in that regard because it's not up to him. I think it's fairly obvious for all our players in that they have an asking price and a sale can be made with the right circumstances.

Trouble is I think Maddison's asking price will be too high for Arsenal and will only get larger as we get closer to the window. The club won't let him go for cheap and these rumours of Maitland-Niles, Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock are, at best, naive from Arsenal.

To much over analysise

Fair point. I'm sure the twitter statement analysis experts have concluded this means Leicester want Arsenal to put in a bid for him

Well yeah, that's not for him to confirm or deny.

Rodgers made it clear that he wanted Maddison in his side.If the club sell then it really puts Rodgers in a difficult

Position regarding building a decent squad We have sold a lot of quality players in the last five years but eventiually

it will hurt us Tielemans still to commit, Maddison goes and I feel Tielemans will see a lack of ambition and will go

and the next will be Rodgers If you want a bigger mansion to okay in then you don’t want tat masquerading as decent

furniture

It’s clear - pay the money or F off

what Rodgers could say is that ‘beyond a certain date we wouldn’t allow a sale of any of our first team players unless it was a crazy amount of money’.

But he didn’t

Even the level headed gooners down here expect something to happen with madders …

"I believe he will stay" is not convincing me to be honest!

Because if someone offers him 60m he'll sell.

I was confident he would stay before but now not so much. If the money is offered I think we will sell ......

Of course we will, because we will see value in what we're getting. Football is a business.
