Problem is that Rodgers clearly does not rate Benkovic, getting a defender in who would definitely start for us is an instant plus, not sure how long Evans is out for but we need someone ASAP…

He wants to stay in the Premiership and I think he wants to come here. It's reported they've turned down 10 million but they're running out of time.

I never said we didn’t. Just was replying to someone suggesting that we should use Benkovic in a swap deal. My point was that we can’t really be losing any CBs even if we bring one in because we are so short in that area.

 

Also I see nothing to suggest that Rodgers doesn’t rate Benkovic. If that was the case he would have been out of the door years ago. In fact it was under Rodgers he played his best football and it was Rodgers praising him in his press conference last week!

He’s an excellent player. Despite that 9-0 bashing he’s one of the only back line that survived. Big, strong, looks like he’s off the munsters gerrimin….

 

All joking apart, he’s actually a decent footballer too. And gives us much needed muscle we don’t need a pacy CB Cags will do the running for him.

Hmm... I've always been unconvinced by Vestergaard.  Useful aerial presence but about as mobile as a sack of wet sand.  However, desperate times call for desperate measures.

I watched a lot of saints games last year and its a bit odd how all of their fans are wanting rid of him. I thought he looked like a quality CB and up until the first half of last season they were firing on all cylinders until they fell back to earth

Saints fans just want money for him. He’s a good player but he’s not gonna sign a new contract so they’d rather have something than nothing. I’ve always been a fan.
