Popular Post West Bridgford Fox Posted 11 August 2021 Popular Post Posted 11 August 2021 Each year I take a break from listening to the football forum over the close season. On Monday, I tuned in again looking forward to a preview of the new season and within seconds Ian had me reaching for the off button because of his insistence on playing the champions league theme. My understanding is that a year or two back, listeners overwhelmingly voted against hearing it every week. But every week, without fail, he still references not being allowed to play it. And then on Monday he plays it regardless. Why does he insist on persisting with it? He’s like uncle nob head at family events, always rolling out the same gags. You can almost feel Matt Piper and guests etc rolling their eyes. The fact that we’ve missed out on the champions league in the way we have makes this joke even less funny for me. Calling Owynn his full name each and every time is another one which has worn thin in my opinion. Come on Ian, you’re a great commentator and nobody can fault your passion for Leicester. I just wish you’d focus on what you do best and stop trying to be a comedian. 2 10
Wymsey Posted 11 August 2021 Posted 11 August 2021 (edited) Hope he comes on here again to answer fans' questions one evening in the future. ( @Mark ? ) It was great last time (around two years ago). Edited 11 August 2021 by Wymsey 1
Popular Post Leicester_Loyal Posted 11 August 2021 Popular Post Posted 11 August 2021 He's a bellend, I've said it for years. 12 6
RoboFox Posted 11 August 2021 Posted 11 August 2021 Unusual take. He's ordinarily very popular with the FT massive.
jeffschlupp Posted 11 August 2021 Posted 11 August 2021 Everyone knows Stringer is a nob but Palmer-Atkin is just as bad, having managed to carve a career seemingly out of cosying up to him. How you get on the radio by being unable to pronounce words is beyond me I only bother to hear Rodgers these days, and that is painful given Stringer asks terrible elongated questions as though he is what the listeners have tuned in for. Piper is good but I can't stand to hear the other two with him 1
Tuna Posted 11 August 2021 Posted 11 August 2021 I tuned in unusually on Monday and he was banging on about doing the show on a canal boat.
Popular Post bovril Posted 11 August 2021 Popular Post Posted 11 August 2021 He's an awful commentator and I find it very difficult to games on RL. Piper is very good though. 5
TheUltimateWinner Posted 11 August 2021 Posted 11 August 2021 Blimey this is a championship era throwback with the Stringer bashing! 3
Langston Posted 11 August 2021 Posted 11 August 2021 "There he is sporting a very bright pair of boots, wouldn't have gotten away with those in your day would you, Pipes?" Repeat ad infinitum. 1 2

Tuna Posted 11 August 2021 Posted 11 August 2021 Peak Stringer for me was when he was commentating and Mendy intercepted the ball and he started singing the chorus to "Sound Of Da Police" (Whoop Whoop that's the sound of da police). 2

Koke Posted 11 August 2021 Posted 11 August 2021 Monday night on BBC radio Leicester could be a really great program but it's so tedious with their inane chit chat about sandwiches and whatever, and boring quizzes about who scored against Millwall in 2012.
Popular Post Frost Posted 11 August 2021 Popular Post Posted 11 August 2021 Personally, I can't stand the bloke so choose not to listen to him, ever. I'm amazed people still listen to the match commentary let alone on a Monday night! 6
Crazy Kop Corner Posted 11 August 2021 Posted 11 August 2021 Matt Piper is superb in my view and a top lad. He just about makes it bearable but probably a sign of how much I rate him. To be fair I think Owynn's montages are pretty good. 3
The whole world smiles Posted 11 August 2021 Posted 11 August 2021 I regularly listen to the football forum and their post game show. Very enjoyable the one on a Thursday in the boozer with birch is far too self indulgent for me though.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 11 August 2021 Posted 11 August 2021 At the start of every season I remember that he probably wakes up raging that he hasn't gone national yet and can't understand why, and it brings a smile to my face. 4
Popular Post Stadt Posted 11 August 2021 Popular Post Posted 11 August 2021 I have nothing to add that hasn’t been said already. He’s a twát. 6 1

Is that a trick question? Wasn't it the 0 - 3 game So nobody scored? Do I win a sandwich?
