He hasn’t. We’ve mostly played with one up top whose job was to hold up the ball and release wingers or others from deep. We’ve never played Daka in a counter attack like we used to spring on the opponent in 15/16. He’d have thrived if we had. His pace as a weapon has very rarely been utilised as it was last night.

I got flashbacks of the Moscow game with that run through and finish, in that game he looked like he'd score on every break. He should arrive at training buoyant and positive after last night and realise he has the opportunity to build on it and impress the new manager. He seems to play on instinct, the quicker the break, the fewer touches required the better, more than looking to link up with slower build ups where you may have multiple options on. If he plays alone up there he'll need a degree of the more patient hold up play too, waiting for support to arrive, a breakaway 1 on 1 won't always be on.

Probably the best thing for him at the moment to be working with an ex striker of Ruud's calibre. Some goal yesterday, dont think I fully appreciated at the time the hunger he showed to nick that ball and make the goal for him

Ruud made an interesting comment when rewatching the goal

Was it just me, or was the crowd reaction when that goal went in a couple of octaves higher than normal because of the shock/surprise factor?

 

There was a lot of laughter mixed with “glory be”s etc around where I was sitting.

 

Anyway good on him. A fantastic finish. Let’s hope he goes on a decent scoring run. If Chris Wood can do it…

Look back at Vardys goals from that season and the following season. There are many instances of playing off the shoulder and runs from deep. 

The article clearly views Leicester as one of the leading counter attacking teams at the time of writing under Rodgers.

Daka played in that team 23 times in the first year in the league, and 30 times the second season so how has he clearly never been played to his strengths?

When we were chasing Edouard we ended up with Daka instead. 
 

There have been a few ups and downs when deciding whether us or Crystal Palace got the better end of the deals. Ironic that now we have both of them it looks like Daka will prove far more useful than OE. 
 

It wasn’t until we signed him that I realised that Odsonne isn’t rated at all by CP fans

Vardy is better and RVN doesn't want 2 up front. Against Wolves I think at half time he just didn't want it to become a cricket score. He had given up on getting anything from the game and wanted to keep it tight. Hence the defensive substitutions.

After 50 backwards and sideways passes under Rodgers, his Leicester City side, having patiently waited for their opposition defence to all get back in their own half, they then used to stride forward with a purposeful look on their faces. This was counter attacking football  ... but very slowly and carefully so as not to wake anyone up. 😁

Imagine he will start on Boxing Day. I cant see Vardy playing 3 games in a week. 

 

Was pointless bringing him on Sunday so might as well save him.

Yes, I thought that too. Clearly didn't want him very much or it was for something else other than a football role. Or, having now seen training, he's got fed up of him missing the goal their too and having to constantly go and get the ball back. All hail Mr Sitter!

How is it still a mystery to people that this other striker we've got hanging around, you know this Vardy character, is actually quite good at football.

Not debating that Vardy is our first choice, just that he can’t play every minute and to have a striker that our manager supposedly rates festering on the bench is a bit odd
