bovril Posted 28 May 2022 Posted 28 May 2022 It's not really a shit rule though is it? If a player plays a through ball to an offside player and it takes a nick off a defender on the way, you can't give the goal surely

cambridgefox Posted 28 May 2022 Posted 28 May 2022 So.Huddersfield are 1-0 up last minute tomorrow.Forest score like Real did and it’s disallowed.Hand on heart would there be the same outrage or would you agree with Walton?

Nalis Posted 28 May 2022 Posted 28 May 2022 (edited) Shit thing is that I absolutely love the way this Real Madrid team play, like a 2016 Leicester. I just cant like them due to being Real Madrid. Edit - Real Madrid are not better than 2016 Leicester, no one is better than 2016 us Edited 28 May 2022 by Nalis

It's nonsense that a player sliding towards the ball can be judged as making accidental/unintentional contact with it. Crap rule. 1

sm1 Posted 28 May 2022 Posted 28 May 2022 VAR is just bullshit. If that offside hadn't been given on the pitch VAR would've given that as a goal.

kingkisnorbo Posted 28 May 2022 Posted 28 May 2022 Probably a stupid question but can someone tell me why in that context Robertson wouldn’t be playing Benzema on? Sorry for being a Luddite.

And the only reason it’s not been given on the pitch is that the linesman has to assume it’s come off Valverde. He’s put his flag up to alert the referee to the fact that Benzema is in an offside position so the referee has gone with the linesman.

Guest Kopfkino Posted 28 May 2022 Posted 28 May 2022 What a dreadful rule…another decision that does actually seem correct by the letter of the law but makes no sense to anyones common understanding of football. “For it to be a deliberate action the defender must have time and options” **** off

You don't mind contentious decisions when you can blame the ref and move on. Now they have cameras and more contentious decisions. Almost like an orchestrated drama.
turlo Posted 28 May 2022 Posted 28 May 2022 Fabinho is intentionally sliding back towards the goal trying to win the ball. If he connects with the ball its only going to go back towards the goal. How is that not intentional

Sorry for being a Luddite. Goalie is ahead of him - you need 2 players to be closer to the goal than you to be onside.
