When have Danny Ings' goal ever got a side more than mid table?

Tbf I think it will lol I was just offering a different argument as, technically, it is possible. Their defence is shocking imo.

**** sake, some of you… “not great window” what were you expecting? Us to battle city for Grealish? United for Ronaldo? Send Rudkin to the depths of the Amazon rain forest to find the next big thing kicking a bison’s left testicle around on a beach……

We’ve had a solid window, we’ve added some much needed depth to the team (which has also added quality) we’ve bolstered the defence and we’ve potentially found the Vardy replacement.

Yes we could have done with a RW, however, I think it is clear the club are looking for a talent that needs work, someone whose shown flashes of brilliance that they can mould, which we tried with Under, and are now looking at trying with Lookman. If he hits the ground running, and we allow him to fulfil his potential it could prove to be a sublime bit a business, but like all signings time will tell.

We’ve probably spent over what we would have ordinarily liked, and haven’t shipped many out, we’ve not lost any key players and the biggest complaint from last season has been addressed in the depth.

Two back to back top 5 finishes and an FA cup would suggest the club know what they’re doing. Just remember where we were back in 2004…… we will have another good season, and potentially achieve something else special too. Just get behind the lads and support them.

A right winger? Nobody has asked for Ronaldo or Grealish but lets be realistic that position is where we'll struggle/weak link.

Also I don't forget where we once were but that doesn't have any influence on us 15 years later. Why would I not want to see us improve just because we were once battling relegation in the Championship?

We will have another good season, I agree, but a quality right winger could be the difference between 4th and 5th.

Interesting same discussion on R5 live last night. Never mentioned us  but at the end said  'but ofcourse Leicester quietly improved their squad with players who we all will be saying Wow about  later in the season.'

Let's hope they're right.

The 'Lost' City thing is still very much being played out. Under the radar, as usual, but I think that's how we like it. The Enigma, that's us.

There aren’t many bison or indeed beaches in the depths of the Amazon rain forest. True bull fondling was more a Minoan thing anyway, although I hear some Spaniards get quite close to their horny friends.  (I know Bison are not strictly bulls, but the male of the species is still referred to as a bull).

That being said, you are correct sir, our window has been very good to excellent. I’m only mildly disappointed in Lookman but think the guy has potential, so we will see. He simply cannot be as bad as Perez and hopefully his arrival will help Ayoze to shift inside and offer Maddison some competition.

The difference between 4th and 5th is the money being spent by the “big clubs”. Liverpool have a near fully fit squad again and city are just being city.

Where I agree we do desperately need a better attacking option on the right, to find one to play at the level we want often comes at a premium. And other areas of the squad needed addressing first, Fofana’s injury has no doubt scuppered any plans we had to purchase an attacking player.

But Lookman is one of those that could turn out to be a shrewd bit of business. He has ingredients to be a top player, he just needs guidance, come with a better attitude than Under and he could well give us what we need.

It’s been an excellent window, had Fofana not been injured we probably would have gone for a more finished article on attack.

And in terms of where we were 15 odd years ago, may not have a bearing on where we are now, but it should certainly make us humble, and remember what makes our club what it is….. not a soulless club like Man City.

Can't believe people are playing down the Ronaldo transfer.

He's had to adapt his style as he's got older but he's still lethal.

Not only can he bring so much to the team, he will bring so much out of the rest of the squad and perhaps be an attraction for any other players in following transfer markets.

Think one of the most underrated bit of business is replacing him with Armstrong who's 8 years younger fir half the price.

The unanswered question here is, will our signings get extended runs in the first team? If not, they may not be as good buys as we hoped for.

By contrast, does anyone doubt that Sancho, Varane and Ronaldo will not get much playing time in United's first eleven?

Time will show us if we had a great window, or a mediocre one.

Spurs signing yet another right back and releasing yet another one who whilst had the occasional shocker isn't the worst one I've ever seen is absolutely atrocious business.

There are more beaches in Manaus than in Camber Sands, oddly enough. I was surprised as well when I watched 'Earth's Greatest Rivers'. I don't know about a bison's left testicle though - perhaps not surprisingly they left that out, but the Amazon is the world's centre of biodiversity, so there's bound to be something of that nature

Everyone saying utd had a great window.  Will say it again Serie A is not the premier league.  Ronaldo is 36 yrs old.  I must be the only person who doesnt rate Sancho.  Only thing I will give Utd is getting leeds to spunk 30 million on Dan James.

We get so much praise about how we work in the transfer market and the types of players that get brought in, we should trust what the club are doing. Its nice to look at trying to sign some flamboyant Brazilian but that isn't what we do.

This is the first year we've not lost a massive asset from the squad, Covid, the new training ground and also the pending stadium expansion i dont think we've done too badly with the recruits. Consider we were also thrown a massive curveball with little Wes a week or so before the season started which i imagine scuppered some transfer plans.

I would grade it as a shrewed transfer window (i personally think Daka and Soumare will be superb for us) and it can really only be fully graded over time.

We could have done a Leeds and spunked £30m on Dan James...

Chelsea have addressed their problem position(s) and recouped a silly amount by selling squad players. United have left their midfield alone which is baffling. Ronaldo will score 25+ but I don't think that will actually translate into many more points. They still have OGS in charge too which is like a -10 start each season.

A RW was my top priority as Perez and Albrighton aren't at the level we need. Fofana's injury probably curtailed a signing here but it's hard to say - maybe we felt like we had to move for Daka now but RW was more urgent I think.

Without giving my thoughts on the window, this is completely irrelevant in assessing this transfer window and a very tedious argument indeed.

Why? Why comment if you’re not wanting to offer your opinion on the window?

Why is trying to be positive about the clubs business tedious?

Constant moaning, and glass half empty outlook is tedious.

8/10 window for me

One of the biggest things that has killed us the past couple of seasons has been squad depth and we have massively improved it

We have also finally had a summer transfer window where we have kept ALL of our big players which means we don’t have to spend time worrying as to whether their replacement will be good enough to step up

We also have to remember that the Fofana injury probably screwed over our transfer plans quite a bit as centre back depth got shoved to the front of the queue when that happened, for all we know the original plan could have been to spend money on a right winger and loan a centre back but the injury forced us to spend in the market on an adequate player in Vestergaard to play regularly rather than a back up

Yes we still missed out on that much wanted right winger but I still think it was a very good window

You can be positive about it without bringing up a season 17 years ago.

I've not read any of the comments in this thread but I'd bet there are a couple of people who aren't very happy with our dealings, for whatever reason.

At the end of the day if you thought back in May that we'd make it through this transfer window without losing anyone and added Daka, Soumare, Bertrand, Lookman and Vestergaard then the vast majority of us would have been very happy with that.

The fact that we've lost Fofana to injury, we've not seen Evans yet and we still seem to keep picking up niggling injuries to a number of players takes some of the gloss off it. Add to that the fact that there have been a number of tedious "links" to football manager wonder kids and suddenly people don't think we've done good business

No one knows where we'll end up at the end of the season, we never know, but taking into account that we've got a squad of players who have finished 5th 2 years on the bounce and won an FA Cup and we've lost 1 player over that 2 year period who could be considered a first team players while adding the amount of depth that we have, plus the emergence of KDH and Thomas through the academy, how can anyone be unhappy with that?

Everton have signed players to play a certain way. Get the ball on the wing and lump it in the box for Calvert-Lewin and now Rondon when DCL is out or subbed. They are going to have a field day against us. They'll win games but not enough to challenge I wouldn't think.

I think we've done ok but jury is out on whether the likes of Daka and Soumare will get the chance to be a success. Still 2 or 3 players in the squad who add nothing but if we get everyone or mostly everyone fit and available we've still got a good squad.
