You can be positive about it without bringing up a season 17 years ago.

I’m merely making a point not to forget where we have come from. It’s very easy to get carried away, but remain humble….. success can quickly turn in this game.

Been thinking about the criticism levelled at our side under Rodgers and I genuinely think we've addressed most of them:

Inability to defend corners / lack of physicality - signed one of the tallest centre backs in the country and a 6ft 2 midfielder

No depth / ability to rest ndidi or youri - signed soumare

No Evans alternative - vestergaard

Lack of bottle / experience - signed two players over the age of 26, 3 players with lots of prem experience

An over reliance on vardy - signed daka

I don't think you can ever criticise this side for not scoring goals - think we were the third highest last year and we don't lack creativity so whilst I'd love a world class right winger I don't think that's what cost us games last year.

Don't know how everyone hasn't gone for West Ham for Best Window. They look a much better prospect than us this season. Some good business done by Moyes.

Do you think?

Arguably the only player they've signed that improves them is Zouma and they've shelled out £30m to get him.

Vlasic is goo depth but he's cost them £25m.

And they didn't buy the one player that turned their season around in Lingard.

I don't think they've had a bad window, but I don't see how they're much stronger following it. Middle of the road 6/10 alongside us IMO.

They have a good 11, they have no depth. They lose Antonio, Bowen, Fornals or rice they’re in bother, as we found out last season. They have to keep that 11 fit, but they’re in Europe too, so I can see them struggling to keep up with all of the comps.

Voted Chelsea for the best window simply because I think they were a top striker and maybe another midfielder away from being near enough perfect, and they got both.

Manchester United have had a good window but haven't plugged all of their gaps. I completely get buying Ronaldo and stopping it strengthening Manchester City does matter somewhat, but they still have an ordinary midfield and won't win anything. Juventus did not get better for signing Ronaldo. If anything they went backwards, even if he did perform.

Ours is definitely one of the better - think after early promise it went a little flat but circumstance largely dictated this and to be honest, not many have actually had that great a window. All I've read from fans of other clubs today is moaning.

Lukaku has the touch of a baby elephant and in this league against the big teams he has been found wanting

Probably some good business but hard to assess really.

Theyve signed three players - two of which are rejects from bigger clubs and another Czech player. Plus they've lost haller and lingard from last seasons squad. Are Zouma and Vlasic good signings? Personally think they're OK.

Moves has made them with what he has rather than what they're buying I think. When we played them they hadn't signed a single player.

Superb against one of the best defensive partnerships in the league on Saturday

I think they have done okay but still haven’t addressed the issue of striker depth which they really need, Antonio is good and has started well but is quite injury prone and they have 0 cover for him

Areola is a good loanee to compete with Fabianski, Zouma is a good signing and an improvement on Dawson, Kral could be a good signing but if he isn’t then their only back up in midfield is Mark Noble, missed out on their number 1 target in Lingard and I think have taken a risk with Vlasic

Needed some more depth signings with having Europa this season

Lukaku is a completely different player than the one that used to play for Man Utd. Ever since sorting his digestive issues out and managing his weight he's been an animal.

Chelsea dropped a lot of points against 'lesser' sides. If anything they needed a flat track bully.

Tell you when I’ve seen them play.

Don’t be stupid pal, it’s more than possible to pass damning verdict on someone’s capabilities, without ever of hearing of them before.

Daka - brilliant the messiah

Soumare - brilliant the messiah

Vestaguard - was shit but is now brilliant.

Lookman - Shit is not a right winger.

Everyone saying utd had a great window.  Will say it again Serie A is not the premier league.  Ronaldo is 36 yrs old.  I must be the only person who doesnt rate Sancho.  Only thing I will give Utd is getting leeds to spunk 30 million on Dan James.

Varane is a big signing for their defence though.

There are more beaches in Manaus than in Camber Sands, oddly enough. I was surprised as well when I watched 'Earth's Greatest Rivers'. I don't know about a bison's left testicle though - perhaps not surprisingly they left that out, but the Amazon is the world's centre of biodiversity, so there's bound to be something of that nature

He said ‘depths’ - meaning deep in the trees. Incorrect. There are many sandbars and beaches along the Amazon and it’s tributaries. But none with ****ing Bison 🤣

I think Chelsea and West Ham had decent windows.

My enthusiasm for ours is dampened by the Fofana leg break and the seemingly never ending number of injuries we are getting, it feels a little two steps forward two steps back.

The signings we have made look solid, fingers crossed they all work out.

Two crocked defenders, a stricker that's going to replace a player who plays every week, a midfielder who can't replace a red carded midfielder and someone else who's been loaned out twice by one club after they bought him as a loanee. Looking good.

I strangely went for palace. Considering the state they started the summer in, they’ve come out of it pretty well. They’ve picked up some decent players at great fees (edouard and olise for example) They also managed to cling on to zaha yet again

If CR7 delivers and stays fit then MUFC win this transfer window by a country mile.

Chelsea have strengthened well; but I don't see how they keep all their players happy. Similar for MUFC I suppose.

A world cup winning centreback, one of Englands hottest prospects, and the leading serie A goalscorer last season who happens to be the leading goalscorer of all time is whats called a sensational window, and anyone saying otherwise really is just doing it for devils advocate purposes.

Varane is excellent business-what they needed and a good price. Sancho is average business-they paid a lot and it’s an area they’re strong in, but in general a good signing. But Ronaldo will change their shape, stymie the likes of Greenwood and Rashford and cost them an absolute fortune for at most 18 months of return.

And I think he’ll harm their identity and spirit for years to come.

Daka is the one that excites me, don't know what to make of the rest of them yet.

I think we could have had a better window if we had managed to move some more players on and off the wage bill.  Fees for Hamza, Mendy and the mysteriously out of favour Praet for instance.

I’m still yet to be convinced by Lukaku…… I mean he’s good, but his premier league stints have been a bit hit and miss. He scores goals, but will he score enough goals to get Chelsea over the line.

He won’t score as many as Kane, and I don’t think he will score as many as Ronaldo either.

Interesting to see if this spell ends in disappointment too, or perhaps he’s at his peak. Time will tell….

I'm telling you now. Lukaku will never score enough goals to 'get United over the line'. I'm sure of it.

He was always one of those players who had a billion chances a game but only scored one. He only ever had one decent game against us that I can remember, and that was for Everton at our place when we’re were absolute dog.

Ot alright smashing goals in at Inter Milan, but the premier league is a more difficult league to operate in. will be interesting to see how he does.
