Can't believe that netball triumph isn't storming the poll, I mean we all remember where we were, right?

Well I voted for it based on your recommendation but between me and you. I’m not sure.

I was shopping in Morrison's at the time and watched the end unfold on a Polaroid 32" display TV. Ended up buying the TV as a momento to mark the greatest of sporting achievements.

There really isn't!..

It's just plain ignorance!

Some football supporters are so blinkered and put down other sports such as tennis.  They've obviously never played the game and competed competitively !!

There's no hiding place on court (like Perez and Maddison can find on a football pitch half the time!).

And what a load of garbage about tennis being an elitist sport!

That's just inverted snobbery.

True though

They are both completely different achievements, but both remarkable. I thought Saturday night was fantastic and made me feel proud to be British!

An amazing achievement by Emma..as Sporting shocks/achievements go how does her win compare with our title win?

Emma's achievement would have been even more remarkable if her coach had been sacked at the start of the summer.

Very much so.

MOTD had to wait until Sunday morning

I would imagine the odds compliers would feel more secure with men's tennis than the women's game. I often feel like any one can beat any one on the day in the womens' game - even Serena would lose unexpectedly when she seemed untouchable.

Sometimes the bookies won't even offer a market on Djokovic losing because it's so unlikely (although they'll still offer a pit full 100/1 on the opposition) which stops the millionaire making a few pennies on a dead cert...

I would imagine that Emma will go on to the next tournament and then quite likely lose to some nobody and then the bookies will make a killing that way too.

It's because you know naff all about it mate, like me also, but I do know Serena's the worst example, she's famous for only losing to people in the top ten, so kind of the opposite to what you're saying.

She literally sacked her coach about 2 months ago and went back to her old one.

Why is this even a discussion? Seriously. Amazing what she’s achieved but doesn’t have a patch on what we did.

Her win is more comparable to Greece winning the Euros.....The amount of matches she played and won, was equivalent to Tournament football and a hugely unexpected winner.

Why  Greece ? Has she a single eye-brow and hairy legs?

Our title win is the best achievement in any sport ever.

I don’t follow others anywhere near as much(and some of those 10 on the BBC’s list, I have no real idea of context of the achievements), however I can almost guarantee that none are even close to our achievement.

The reason being - ours was IMPOSSIBLE, yes I said the word - impossible.

Weve seen crazy things happen before like Greece winning the Euros or Liverpool coming back from 3-0 down in a heroic game - these are amazing achievements that roughly equal Randacanu. You could even say our FA Cup win is similar level, great achievement but not ‘impossible’. Goran Ivanisovic also had an unreal win in about 2001 I think it was as a wildcard - these things above are ‘rare’ but realistically rare and the reason why we watch sport.

Leicester winning the Prem is on another level to anything ever anywhere. It will NEVER happen again and it’s actually insulting that it’s even a debate.

How can something that happened be impossible?

Kind of annoys me this is even a discussion tbh. Both amazing achievements, both entirely different, why people can't just let somebody have their moment without comparing stuff is beyond me. It shouldn't be a competition. BBC sport frankly does my head in at the best of time (the circle jerk over Ronaldo basically had avoiding all their coverage over the weekend) this is just pathetic. Made even more tragic that they have the England '66 World Cup on the list. That's not even remotely like what we or Raducanu achieved.

That’s how unbelievable it is. I doubt there was 1 person anywhere who if asked the question before that season would reply with anything other than ‘impossible’.

Will Norwich win the prem this season? It’s impossible right?

You perhaps misunderstand the difference in meaning between 'impossible' and 'highly improbable'.

In no way wishing to get at you, because I know in essence what you mean, but this is an example why I'm such a stickler for language and the importance of it.

This is a very interesting and slightly spicy (Raj and Peaky) thread ..  and it’s got me thinking ..  which would be a better achievement ….   The taliban national ladies beach volleyball team (in full garb) winning an Olympic gold …. orrrr !! ….  A Tibetan monk (with beer belly) winning the English Darts open tournament ..   a tricky one I know.

You can't even start to compare Ivanisovic's Wimbledon win to what Raducanu has just done!!  FFS , it's totally pointless trying to have a discussion with the likes of you and Raj as quite clearly you are so misinformed and biased.

It's a known fact that Tibetan monks prefer table skittles when they're in the pub.
