Him starting vs Napoli shows that Rodgers has a base level trust in his ability as it stands. Everyone is desperate for him to get an early goal as we saw what happened to Iheanacho when he lost confidence and barely played.

It's happened before. I recall watching Musa score at Everton that way in the FA Cup...otherwise I wouldn't have believed it. 

 

I was at the FA Cup draw at the Den a few years back - but I remember talking to someone after that had watched it on a stream - but the League Cup? Doubtful.
