No leaders outfield again sadly. Vardy is too far upfield to really influence in that way though his goals should act as an inspiration. Midfield no-one, not Youri or Wilf.

Youri supposed to contorl the temper but his unfortune yellow card comes at bad time. He plays poor and we keep losing ground.

Those 15 minutes were the best we've played all season and that in itself speaks volumes.

 

Ultimately I genuinely believe it's too positive for Rodgers and the control freak that he is can't deal with that, with positive, attacking football he doesn't feel we're in control of a game (i.e - pissing around at the back in possession).

Hamza Choudhury should never play for us again. In a game we're most were pretty bad he done his best to stand out amongst the rest as being particularly honking.

We struggled in the latter part of the last two seasons. That's the club we look like right now

 

Something is wrong. Idk what it is. Something deeper than "injuries". But I know I'm not optimistic about finishing top 7 in the PL or advancing out if the group stage in Europa. Frankly, I think we finish bottom half of the table this year

I’m afraid we are in a relegation battle unless we scramble to January and have some money to spend on a defence!

 

Its absolutely unbelievable how bad we are atm, we’re pathetic.

We we’re shocking in the first half then suddenly we’re 2-0 up..I was sitting there at half time saying ‘We have been utterly awful, we’re in a relegation battle this year’ 2-0 up and I’m almost 100% certain we’re not winning away vs the mighty palace!

We have the worst defence in the league, no hyperbole, I genuinely believe that.

We are fairly decent in the middle, Nacho and Lookman in particular give us some threat. Tielemens is over worked but in certain situations really does pull us out of the mire, but despite all the quality we have in the team, we will struggle to ever win games because we are vulnerable at every single moment a team presses us and works out defence.

 

Castange is a fantastic player he really is, and he’s not 1 but at fault. Soyuncu is having a bad time atm but Vestergard and Betrand, my god. Seriously.

Lets just say, they are on course for our worst ever signings…they are SO bad to the point it’s laughable. People will say ‘we’ve been in league 1 etc’ but RELATIVE to the level, these are the 2 most ‘out of their depth’ signings I can ever remember.

Vestergard reminds me of Lee Marshall who was with us under Peter Taylor. A massive joke anytime anyone presses and crosses. He’s felt footed, weak as sh*t , very poor in the air and literally the worst CB I’ve watched play for us for years. I don’t want to ever see him play for us again, he is an absolute liability and a disgrace. Literally I’ve never seen Benkovic play but he must be bloody semi pro standard to not get a game over him it’s ridiculous.

Bertrand I just don’t understand. Why is he being chosen over Ricardo? Riccy can play LB and so can Castange but we consistently play him. I don’t get it. Thomas is young and not great but even he’s still better than Betrand who is old slow and pathetic. When you have him AND Vestergard you become the most easiest team to pressure it’s painful.

Brendan is walking on thin ice, he is a very average manager who has no clue what to do when things go wrong.

 

Much as I love Vardy, how can you decide to take Nacho off over Vards at 2-1 up when we need an out ball to hold it?

Soumare needed to come on and Hamza was having a bit of a nightmare but how can you do a straight swap when they were consistently breaking through the lines?

Should of gone 3 in the CM and clogged, hassled and pressured and got bodies around to stop them relentlessly pounding a defence, that as I’ve stated, is genuinely one of the worst, if not THE worst in the Premier league!

 

Its just farcical the whole thing, I hate watching us at the minute it’s a disgrace. We havnt deserved to win a single game for a long time and he still can’t see what to do!

Picking on the outsiders/newcomers is an easy thing to do. Neither Bertrand or Vestergaard (in particular) have had good starts but the whole team is a shambles. I don’t think either played against West Ham and we were lucky to only lose that game 4-1.

 

Low confidence, poor tactics, players out of form all far more to blame than one or two new signings.

It’s been said many times but when the defence is strong especially centre defence you build from there. Evans out injured should have been seen as a possibility. It’s not that much of a surprise. Fofana was a big injury surprise.  So there was no contingency for injuries to centre backs. I think this is the major problem. Get defence sorted and the rest of the team improves massively. So a lack of foresight on The Evans situation.

I must have been watching a different game to you (and think I speak for the majority of fans around me too). Hamza did very little wrong in the time he was on - he’s gonna give away fouls and he’s gonna give the ball away too (it’s just what he’s like). But he also gave us an impetus and bite in the midfield, aswell as a number of key interceptions and tackles when it looked like they were building something. 
 

I think you might need to watch it back (maybe I do too), but I certainly can’t see how you’re blaming him today.

Annoying as it is, drawing after being 2 up, after virtually everyone predicted a defeat on here, myself included, I’m fairly happy with a point.

We probably didn’t deserve it, but it used be a positive when we got something from a game we didn’t deserve. 
Looking at the bigger picture, ie. key player’s out, player’s out of form/lacking confidence, European football, new player’s being being introduced etc. We are in for a long hard season.

I uses to think the same but it's really not true....

 

He can't pass

He can't keep hold of the ball

He's not particularly great at tackling

He can't read the game

 

He DOES have a good engine so is able to get around and be incompetent in all areas of the pitch, however.

Again… I doubt we’ll be in a relegation fight quite simply because we score too many goals

But we’ll not do any good this season either because we concede too many 

That’s not the sole fault of the defence. I thought it was until I saw today’s game and saw how weak our midfield is without Wilf in it.

Watch the games. There’s quite a few astute posters who have quite rightly pointed out that defensively, our left side is awful. Bertrand can be a very solid defender but he receives zero support from Barnes.

We aren’t defending well AS A TEAM, but I think we’ll score enough to stay safe as long as we keep Vardy fit

Mate, we MUST have been. In the first half alone, there must have been atleast 6/7 stray passes and possibly 5/6 times the ball was taken off him...

Our defence is not good but I see us as a mid table team to say we will be relegated is in my opinion an exaggeration. We’ve got too many quality players.

I’m no tactician… but I seriously hope we can field something like this after the international break: 

 

Soy, Evans, Vest

Ricardo, Youri, Soumaré, Castagne

Maddison

Nacho, Vardy

 

Maddison has looked better since being dropped, Barnes offers nothing recently, but Nacho is the key. We are going to keep playing from the back, but we have no options without him. He holds the ball SO WELL, miles better than anyone else in our squad in the final third. We need him to drop, get the ball from the CBs, hold the ball, and let the midfield get up the pitch before we try the risky passes, so we actually have bodies up the pitch and options… 

 

Even if Evans isn’t fit I’d try it with Dan. Vestergaard is a good enough passer, but the two in midfield needs to be deeper to protect him from being dribbled at directly. 
 

Possibly Lookman over Maddison.

Our defence is awful. I honestly watch my lads U8's defend better than Vestergaard and Bertrand did today. If the opposition get either of those players one on one then they get beaten 80% of the time. 

 

Barnes looks completely out of form. I was shocked he stayed on ahead of Lookman.

Choudhury for all of his impressive closing down can't pass the ball to save his life. 

 

Never deserved a two goal lead and palace will be kicking themselves that they didn't win that.

We stunk the place out.
