With the Saudi takeover at Newcastle and with Leicester still ‘wishing to compete’ I was just wondering if our Thai owners will receive more of a ‘backing’ from Thailand itself : probably through the Royal Family if certain clubs go down the ‘country route’?

Aren't Thailand currently run under a military dictatorship?

Doubt it. I wouldn’t really be that supportive either due to the Thai Royal Family having a very questionable record with Human Rights.

There would really be no need. If the Thai government wanted to give it more backing, you could just see a repeat of the "Thailand Smiles with You" campaign, or any number of other "unofficial" ways to back the club through the present ownership. Most of this wouldn't even be that iffy financially -- Frankly, King Power haven't given the club as much money as it deserves over the past three years, given the name recognition it has received internationally (due to concerns over the related PL rules on the matter, so FU Newcastle fans). This was proven with the new shirt deal.

They were up until 2019. They supposedly have a government instilled now. However, for a country who have had seventeen different constitutions and still have people killed for talking against the monarch, I’d imagine that their version of ‘democracy’ is very different to ours. People may not like this, but if I’m honest, it makes me feel a bit uncomfortable when I see photos off Top with the Thai Royal family.

They don’t have people killed. They can go to jail for defamation ... but you can also go to jail for speaking bad about a business or your neighbour

Whether they kill people or not is quite irrelevant to the point that I am making. If these articles below don’t make people feel uncomfortable then I’m not sure what will.

I’m not defending it but there is a huge difference to arresting someone for breaking a written law and killing people because you don’t like something they’ve done

Yes, but freedom of speech is an important component to democracy, no? Either way, it’s a bit pointless having this debate as it’ll just end up delving into Thai Politics which has little relation to what the OP said.

My concluding thoughts would be that Thai Politics clearly is riddled with problems but the Royal Family has a lot to answer for that, which as stated above, is my main issue with Top advocating them so much.

I’d be concerned at the idea of anyone taking us over frankly 😂 everyone else who’s got money will view us now as a great investment and we would go full Glaziers/Kronke etc

We all know how that would ultimately end up...probably back in the Championship very swiftly 😭

Isnt seeing Jamie Vardy on that super cringe Swardee Ka advert at the King Power enough?! God forbid what would happen if Thailand got hold of it. Probably replace Pukka pies with noodles, BLASPHEMY. uuhhhh
