It's probably right to communicate a concrete strategy, timings, capacity, disruption. If they aren't there yet, then there is no point in chucking feed to the fish.

A sensible option would be in a cpl of months as we will know more in Feb how likely we are to go up in auto's rather than the playoffs. I don't think the expansion hinges on us going up, but I can't see them starting it unless we do.

it's stated on this thread earlier that on the stadium tour they are telling guests that it's paused until we go back up. whether that's true or not though who knows

remember, this is only one stand we are upgrading. There can be a time and a place for others. Family stand looks ripe for an upgrade at some point…

It's actually not the redevelopment covers the north and south stands as well as the east stand. Both the north and south stands will be extended to the same depth as the west stand and its corners, it doesn't add extra seats but there will be major work involved to 3/4 of the stadium. Once it's completed I can't imagine there will be any future plans for a long time, as much as I like the plans that would be my only criticism of the current plans it doesn't allow for easy expansion past this. Something that incorporated potential expansion of the north and south longer term may have been a better option

Surely this will be shelved until we are at least re-established in the Prem?

Only about 6 or 7 clubs are ever established in the Premier League. All of the rest are only ever one bad season away from the drop.

I can't see it starting before that happens either.

if that’s the attitude then the whole thing should be shelved then.

Because what are we going to do if we are battling relegation next year, or the year after that.

It’s a gamble but taking longer isn’t going to help reduce that, as we quite clearly just fell from the most stable position the clubs ever been in.

If we talking a decade to get one stand done, it needs to be more ambitious than 40k.  We filling the stadium in the championship, have a season ticket waiting list, and were not able to take advantage of our increased exposure from our stint in the EPL due to the stadium capacity, 40k will probably be immediately strangling us, 32k in 2023 is just average, 40k will be average by 2030.  This is especially apparent when the modern game has FFP based on revenue.

I think I touched on this earlier in the thread where I feel existing ST holders dont realise how bad the capacity problem is as they already have a ticket to every home game.

Do we want to keep up with other's or do we want to increase our status and actually make a step up.  I want the latter.

If it isn't that, then what's the hold up?

100% agree.

Its also possible that during consultations with the local council some concerns may have been shared as to where the local transport/ infrastructure can cope with 50,000 piling out of the King Power all at the same time. I just believe it will be a phased project and with further stabilization of prem footy ( and proof the current expansion project works) , we'll expand further.

Idea - Introduce staggered departure times... starting at say....the 80th minute lol

King power have long said that Leicester City needs to be self sufficient…  they’ll do it when it’s totally affordable for us to do it…the repayments for the construction will likely come from club funds. It’ll happen. We just have to be patient…

Surely just building the extension makes it pay for itself no? I mean, even 5k more bums on seats over a season equates to tens on million of pounds in revenue.  The extension would pay for itself over the course of a few seasons.

Depends if we stay in the Championship and bums on seats drop. Get stuck in this league and we could be back to 20-25k attendances pretty quickly.

my guess would be that’s it’s financial. The ripples of covid are still being felt and obviously the relegation would put another dent in our finances. Also the possibility that we are watching everton as their stadium was part of the reason they fell short on ffp.

If it’s genuinely just a case of being worried we won’t be in the prem, then it’s going to be tricky because it will take years to comfortably establish ourselves again. So if the only way it’s affordable is continuous involvement in the top flight for the next 15 or so years… then i’d be sceptical to move forward with it. It needs to be financed by the owners with a willingness to cover any deficit should we have a period outside the top flight. It’s got to be a long term investment and we have to ride the waves that come with the long term in football.

All on the club now according to our dear leader

Just noticed all the new posts on here and seeing this, he obviously knows something the planning office doesn’t as the stadium planning is still conditionally approved with the section 106 still pending, the only thing that has been approved and what the club can do is the enabling works preparation to allow the beginning of the stadium improvements

If we had already invested, attendances would have probs been maxed out every week in the PL so even by dropping down for a few seasons, we'd likely still see 30k because of the backlog of demand.

Not to mention that this is a regeneration project essentially so there's a lot of potential of other income on site including the hotel and arena. It should start bringing in the money.

if everyone is a ST paying £450 a season each year gross it'll be £2,250,00.

Season tickets dont' generate a lot of cash.

oh i agree. I think it will be looked at as an investment. I was just responding to the point it would pay for itself via additional bums on seats at matches.

But the new wave of ST holders buy shite overpriced shirts covered in wank graffiti.
