i worked at someone’s house who was very involved with the club at the top level a few years back

he had all the plans and what the clubs intentions where

he said that the extension will be all corporate and that they would be able to open the whole floor to allow for large events and weddings

how true this is i’m not sure

If that's the case the club is run by idiots.

Doing that would kill the fan base. A waiting list for season tickets yet noe are sold.

So it wont be open for league cup games and Donny rovers in the 3rd round fa cup.

I want a season ticket but if that's what the club plan they can fvck off. 50yrs support in the bin.

Tenders to start with. Then the construction companies giving us a start date that could be months off. They will need to find out when specialist parts can be made. So I guess no reason to release anything until they have a definite start date.

They won't need to go to tender again. The company that did the original plans also arrange the build. They might go back to talk price given material cost.......but the key point is....they have gone to the back of the queue. There are a number of other projects that the building company has prioritised.

Relegation meant that the expansion plans were shelved and no indication was ever given to constructors on when they would start again. For that reason, other projects have been prioritised. This projected from the LCFC side is totally at a stand still.

Also the whole premise of this is hospitality/bars/food etc etc. Match tickets are a fraction. When the designers came in and saw the KP they said that the stadium was designed incredibly badly when it came to how people get a drink/food and it wasn't designed with revenue in mind.

That can never be guaranteed though. No club builds based on if they stay up, especially not if the payments are structured properly. They haven't just spent 4m over two years on planning to delay it for 3 years.

They have let the council mess them about for ages if they were going to get it done quickly they would have been pushing planning

Surely with contstruction vehicle access and potential crowd contacting the building development,  it would be better to start early closed season, thus reducing some H&S costs.

Likelyhood is they would start in the close-season and have a good run at site set-up and strip-out - moving it into the phase where its used

Is that sufficient for the JCB's to move in?

Approval letter not revealed yet - might be a condition or two which need answering in the immediate but they would be tasks which can be achieved easily.

Fantastic news.

I just hope the development of the "surrounding area" includes the road system and/or transport links, systems e.t.c, plus parking.

I personally stop till the end but rightly or wrongly this whole 85 minutes thing is largely down to the traffic and poor road system in Leicester imo.

I'm all for the expansion, upgrading and improving but the infrastructure in the surrounding area must improve first and foremost. I fear it won't.

Leicester City Football Club is pleased to confirm that its hybrid planning application for the development of the King Power Stadium and surrounding site has now received formal approval from Leicester City Council, following the Council planning committee’s initial approval in September 2022. This final decision had been held pending the finalisation of a Section 106 agreement in relation to the proposed development, which has now been concluded.

The Club welcomes this endorsement of the planning committee’s previous approval and thanks its fellow city stakeholders for their continued cooperation and support for a developmental vision that will be transformational for the city and the region.

Our hybrid application, initially submitted for consideration in October 2021 following an extensive public consultation process, consisted of a detailed planning application for an East Stand expansion of 8,000 seats, along with an outline application for a wider masterplan, including a fanzone and public realm, an event and entertainment arena, a 220-room hotel, a residential tower and a new flagship club retail space.

The wider masterplan is critical to the viability of the overall project, and the grant of outline permission for these additional elements represents a critical milestone for the overall development, whilst also providing the Club with an opportunity now to reassess its detailed proposals in light of market dynamics which have changed significantly since the Club’s proposals were initially submitted. The Club’s acquisition of further adjacent land since the planning application was first submitted can now also be factored into our vision for the overall site, and presents a further opportunity to strengthen the Club’s overall commercial proposition.

It will be the responsibility of the Club’s leadership to ensure that the final detailed plans for a project of such longevity deliver optimal value, particularly given the scale of investment which will be required from the Club and its owners to bring it to fruition. The Club looks forward to advancing those detailed proposals, while continuing to monitor associated market conditions, which will enable us to plan an appropriate timeline for development work to commence.

Can we just have 25% or so of what they have already built and ship it down here?

You joke but we should absolutely offer them the choice between compensation or half their new stadium plus remaining building materials.

Either that or we threaten them with sending the lad who burned down B&Q in Abbey Lane for a tour of their new stadium when it’s finished.
