Why hasn’t anyone questioned the absurd decision to bat first? lol

‘Nine times out of ten when you win the toss, you bat first. Don’t even need to think about it. The tenth time, you think about it. And then bat first.’

I won’t have the quote exactly right, and I can’t remember who said it.

I think the problem was the batting, not the decision to bat! We all know Australia would have been 230-1 or something, and he’d have been even more slated for putting them in!

Agree - Cummins said he would have batted too apparently

Like you say they probably would have not been 30-4 or whatever it was.

Went sleep with my ear phones in listening to TMS. Must have fallen sleep just before it started and was woken by Agnew shouting 'BOWLED HIM'.

Had to take the ear phones out in the end due to the continuous stream of wickets keeping me awake.

Woke up, went as expected.

Couldn't see past a hammering before, the rain might prevent that but we are a poor batting side when Root is firing and worse when he isn't.

Calls that England should have bowled are off the mark.

The blueprint for success in Australia is usually the same. Win the toss, bat, fight your way through the difficult first session keeping wickets, not giving a toss if you score at 2 round per over.

Then, make hay in the mid afternoon and evening sessions as the bowlers begin to toil under the heat.

Day 2, often the best batting day, when the track speeds up but also flattens out, pile the runs on. 'twas ever thus.

England just weren't good enough to survive and put pressure on.

Not a huge surprise given they had no warm up but we know they are prone to a collapse even when playing regularly.

The only saving grace in this series is that Australia have a lot of question marks over them. Sadly, England may not be good enough to expose those flaws.

There's time to recover, but a laughably predictable first day.

There wasn't much of a gap between those two. Does 15 seconds actually count as sleep?

Smith and Warner both to knock easy tons I reckon.

Not too much for Warner to mentally worry about seeing as we conceded this test before it started.

Well I didn't hear the anthems or the team coming out so probably fell sleep 10/15 mins before.

Ah

I assumed by 'start', you meant as Starc reached his mark and 'bowled him' when Burns lost his mind and his stumps lol. Hence my confusion.

Wicket.

Its ****ing awful having to deal with the Aussie coverage. It’s like watching Russia Today

It's a sad state of affairs when Warne is the most pro England guy on coms!
