We've let too many half chances go begging. Some poor fielding

We have, there's no doubt.

I can't believe we've turned to Stokes again. The poor bloke will need a rest from all cricket after the first test at this rate. We went in knowing he wouldn't be able to bowl much. The game is close to being gone here, why flog him?

Stokes and Robinson hobbling in on day 2 of the Ashes. We could lose this 5 match series 6-0 if we carry on like this.

Aggers 'I can't believe England will take the new ball, they have no one left to bowl it'. :ermm:

Great innings from Head. But only England could hand a century (first ashes century at that) to a player that’s just been recalled after the best part of a year out the team. lol

He's been in good form domestically so not all that surprising, the rate at which he's done it is worrying though

This will be done by this time tomorrow. Just not at the same level in all areas. Bowlers are ok but missing Broad, Anderson and Archer. And then the spinner never holds down an end. Runs flow too quickly.

Depends how much Australia want to ride it out and humiliate England with the bat, and build a huge lead.

Don't have much faith in England's batting to compete even if they declared at about 400.

The bowlers have done well from what I’ve seen of play. So many play and misses, especially early on, but then they get knackered as there’s no real spinner to hold an end up.

They’ve had no luck, but England also had to take more of the half chances that have come their way.

The fault in all this is still with the batsman. 350-odd is the least we should have got.

They've got more than enough of a lead already you feel...

Headline writers dream.

"Travis is head boy" etc.

“Accommodating England bowlers give Travis head”

Yeah those three fast bowlers have done well to go through 58 overs themselves for pretty much 150 and 5 wickets.

Leach has had a mare and Stokes is so rusty

Wow that’s a great way of putting it and but for a bit more luck it should have been even better than that.

Was actually glad Anderson and Broad weren’t involved while watching the latter overs of the day - not that Bess is going to come in and do that much better to help them out.

Well if there is a positive to be found it looks like Robinson may be able to take wickets outside of home conditions cementing his place in a decent pace bowling unit.

Australia batting all day meant we at least didn't haven't had to watch England bat again yet too, putting off that ignominy for now.

Might be as good as it gets.

When the Aussies tour here they have several weeks of preparation against the Counties. Yet when we tour there there appears to be no more than one semi-competitive game (of which the rain prevented play for most of 4 days). It is never surprising that we continue to always seem to struggle in opening test, which is so important - probably particularly in Australia. Perhaps I am pessimistic but I can see Burns dismissal reminiscent of 2006 when Harmison bowled a large wide on first ball - and it was a 5-0 whitewash, although I am not expecting quite as bad a result of series
