It's obvious that Conference League was a big success at least this 1st season.

The design of the tournament means that should always be the case. 

 

It's the Duckworth Lewis of football. The algorithm somehow gets the right last 16...and at the same time, has helped condense the EL into a better level 32 team group stage (many EL groups could've easily passed as a weaker CL group)

Honestly I've wanted a shot at Roma ever since they threw their toys out because we wouldn't sell them Mahrez for 15M.

Feel the same. Skepticism quickly faded once it got going. The chance for the D-tier teams especially - been incredible seeing Luxembourg rising with regular on-the-level ties in particular - they're on the cusp of being the new Iceland.

 

I still maintain that we're good enough for the Europa League, looking at the teams in it. But hell, we've got some quality left in this one too.

The tournament achieves what UEFA wanted - more smaller leagues get to have teams in a group stage, but you will have good match-ups from the R16 on...

I'm watching Feyenoord and Marseille games. Both teams have huge problems at the back. If we manage to get past Roma the trophy is most possibly coming to Leicester.

You know what’s mad? The conference league semi finalists are bigger clubs with bigger histories than the 4 europa league semi finalists.

Regardless of the financial difference now, growing up, these clubs were all on a different level or 2 to us. We are equals now. Imagine beating those 3 teams and winning a trophy at the end of it.

I actually think the conference league has the traditional bigger and more historic clubs. I also don’t think there is much difference in quality between the two sets of semi finalists.

If they'd just ran it back as the Cup Winners Cup from the start it would have had the respect back in August. It was ony ever the Conference part of the name that gave it such a low bar.

This is exactly the point - traditionally we had 3 European trophies, and all were respected.
