In key moments when you’re under the cosh, a player with a good brain will try and keep up passing the ball to his team mates. All too often you see pros just panic and hoof it.

Key memorable examples of this are England v Croatia in the WC Semi in Russia, England v Italy in the recent Euro Final (Jordan Henderson being a major culprit) - and it happened a bit last night. If players don’t keep their head the opposition sense panic and it just adds to the pressure.

I was surprised last night that the equalizer didn’t come before the 94th min. But in fairness it was ramshackle at the back, but I do think we have a problem here - and it comes down to a lack of cool heads and ultimately leadership in critical moments.

No we won the FA Cup and Charity Shield

This is the correct answer.

That said, it doesn't excuse some of the really daft stuff that's happened in other competitions in recent years. Last night was the absolute epitome of it. Retaining a healthy sense of perspective is all well and good, but as fans we should be frustrated seeing arguably the most talented Leicester squad ever doing ridiculous things like last night. This is an era where we should be making hay while the sun shines and constantly trying to add to our trophy count.

Have we officially taken over the Spursy bottle jobs title? I know you shouldn't go off social media but the general consensus is "of course Leicester couldn't finish the job against Liverpool, they are the new Spurs". Are they wrong?

Whatever way you look at it being 3-1 up against Liverpool's C team and throwing it away is the definition of bottling, the ref was shocking but we just seem to panic and it's so clear to see.

I guess the big difference is we have won trophies but nobody can deny when push comes to shove we don't seem to have the mental ability to see it through. Is that Brendan? Is that the players inexperience? Are we punching above our weight class as Brendan alluded to? I don't know the answer but it's an interesting debate.

In my opinion you're wrong to disregard the Liverpool substitutes at half time and imply we played the same so called 'C team' for 90+ minutes. We were 3-1 up against the so called 'C team' but couldn't match Liverpool's ability to draw on the depth of their squad with changes.

The Spursy thing for me doesnt really exist.

Apart from their 4 nil away win to Stoke, they never looked like catching us in 2016.

The following season they were the only team remotely close to Chelsea but they were never challenging.

Point being that they over achieved to get into the positions they were in and were never really challenging for anything rather than throwing anything away. The finals they were in they were underdogs anyway.

Man Utd losing the title in 2012 and Newcastle losing the title in 1996 were both bottle jobs, the Spurs ones werent.

We were without what you could consider our starting back 4 in Castagne, Justin, Fofana and Evans.  We also had Amartey out and we proceeded to lose Soyuncu and Ricardo before 60 mins last night.  Vardy may well be ****ed too. We have not had a fully fit squad this year and Liverpool brought their big hitters off the bench.  We drew due a 95th minute equaliser.  It would not have even been 6 minutes of added time had we not tried shithousery tactics in the 2nd half.  If we had held on we would be lauding Rogers now.  Fine margins.  Add to the fact they could have had 3 reds last night, I think we were unlucky.

We really need a little perspective on what has happened this season and what the injury situation has cost us.  I still believe our strongest 11 when fit with then a very good bench is a match for every side in the Prem except the top 3.  This season is pretty much a write off and I can see a number of players moving on in the summer and a rebuild job on the cards.  I hope we can come out of it stronger, but it will be very difficult to replace Tielemans, Maddison and N'didi if they were all to go at the same time.

Do people just open new threads for the points or whatever it brings? Such an embarrassing needless thread. Plenty of them where this can be discussed.

Nope! As my late father in law use to say " I see Leicester have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory".  We just haven't been the normal Leicester these last few years, so we are probably reverting to type this season!

The way some of our fans are reacting to a thrilling game of football that ended up as a draw, is ridiculous. If it was Liverpool C team then it was our B team. The ref failed to uphold any disciplinary standards. It was a great game, I enjoyed watching it, disappointing result. If we can take some of that into Boxing Day, we might have a fighting chance of some points against one of the very best.

Doesn’t bother me :dunno:

Just saying the club being took the piss out of is what I’m seeing and reading after the last few months and last night, doesn’t particularly bother me, in a way I’m all for it, I’d like to think perhaps it’d give us some much needed siege mentality, resolve, grit, fight and fire.

But….nah, not seen that for a very long time.

I'm left with no option but to take the piss out ourselves myself when we're doing the same things over and over and over and over and over and over...again. Then, when I say what people want to hear to avoid argument I get accused of being a sarcastic bastard. Whatever.

I’m sure he doesn’t but for the sake his precious ego I hope Rodgers avoid’s social media.

I think it’s rubbish because we have always had legitimate excuses. At the end of last season we were injury hit and ended with a really hard run of fixtures. If we had finished with the bottom three and messed it up it would have been a different story. Last night we started with loads of defenders out and lost 2 more. Ndidi made a mistake at the end because he is a midfielder but being used in desperation. They increased the quality of their players as the match went on, we only had players on the bench who were short of fitness because of the covid outbreak.

I'm not at all worried about other people seeing us and mocking us for being bottle jobs. Couldn't care less.

I'm more concerned with the fact that WE ARE bottlejobs.

Last night, Europa league, Villa in the Cup a couple of seasons ago, dropping out the top 5 the last two seasons. There is no denying that we lack fight and character in our team that would see these things out. Now I'm not entitled enough to think that we have a given right to finish top 5 or make semi finals/latter stages in Cup competitions. Ofcourse we don't but we always seem to get ourselves into favourable positions to progress then fall to sh!t when it matters. That's what makes us bottlejobs and that's the most disappointing part.

And what is an additional worry is how long is it going to take Rodgers to identify and address the issue giving his track record of being seemingly oblivious/unable to fix ongoing issues we've had? Like our vulnerability from setplays/overall defensive weakness and starting games on the back foot?!

I'm not sure we are Spursy. But we don't have any dog in us. We win comfortably - ish. Or we lose. I remember seeing us dog out (back to the wall) many a game in the MON era. Snatching something we barely deserved. That 'fight' isn't really in this teams DNA. But we can play an awful lot better footie these days. So I suppose it's about what your priorities are as a fan?

Stupid post!  The "normal" Leicester is the one that spent decades moving between the top two divisions, and being relegated more times than I care to remember and when Europe meant watching the Eurovision song contest on TV.. Are you aware this is the second longest period our club has spent in the top division? We are mid table and still in Europe, These are unprecedented times so enjoy them before the real normal Leicester comes back.

"Spursy"

Tottenham last won a trophy in 2008. Three months later we were relegated to League One.

Since then we've:

Won League One

Won the Championship (Spurs last won it in 1950)

Won the Premier League (Spurs last won it in 1961)

Won the FA Cup (Spurs last won it in 1991

Won the Charity Shield (Spurs last won it (outright* in 1962)

The only reason we haven't qualified for the Champions League the last two seasons is because we haven't had a fully fit squad in that time, and the teams we're "competing" against have much greater resources.
