"Spursy"

Tottenham last won a trophy in 2008. Three months later we were relegated to League One.

Since then we've:

Won League One

Won the Championship (Spurs last won it in 1950)

Won the Premier League (Spurs last won it in 1961)

Won the FA Cup (Spurs last won it in 1991

Won the Charity Shield (Spurs last won it (outright* in 1962)

The only reason we haven't qualified for the Champions League the last two seasons is because we haven't had a fully fit squad in that time, and the teams we're "competing" against have much greater resources.

Delete thread.

These are not good thing's lol For all the stick some of our fans give Spurs, at least they are a top flight ever present.

Also, teams we're "competing against have much greater resources" is not the reason why we didn't finish top 4. And it's a bloody good reason Ranieri didn't have that attitude.

Why is there an obsession with how we are viewed, what Tottenham have done etc?

Have we "bottled" some things? Yes. Have we won others? Yes.

We've not taken over any supposed or imaginary tag, we've failed to win a quarter-final with no guarantees we'd win the whole thing.

What?

They won back to back 2nd division 1st division titles in the 50s.

Pretty sure they’ve done at least 10 seasons in the 2nd tier.

Every team bottles it.

Think those outside the top money clubs are more likely to "bottle  it" given the funds and players we have etc.

Spursy bottle job is always a cheap quick laugh but they have been ever present in the EPL for ages which isn't easy.

Winning the cup, league have been fantastic but  if things continue in 50 years we will be them too. 1 title in X years etc.

Just enjoy where we are even if things annoy us. Golden years for our club and long may it continue.

Doesn't mean fans cant criticize things though.

I know. I didn't mean in their entire history, obviously  But in the past 20/30 years they've been a top flight ever present.

The whole "big club" thing is annoying, they certainly haven't won enough to justify that for me, but lets not pretend they're small either. Winning tiers 2 and 3 isn't nothing to brag about when they've not been relegated from tier 1 sincethe 70's.

What's the point in being an 'ever present' if you achieve absolutely **** all in that time? In the Premier League era Tottenham's achievements have been 2 League Cups. In that time we've been promoted, won 2 League Cups, relegated, promoted, relegated **Tottenhams Last Trophy Here **, relegated, won League One, won the Championship, won the Premier League, won the FA Cup, and won the Community Shield.

Just imagine how ****ing boring it must be supporting Tottenham? Even Everton - literally all of the above has happened since they last even won a trophy.

Yeah, I'm not saying it's great just being in the top flight and doing nothing but it's nothing to beat them with either. See my post above.

People think it's absolute banter "hahaa they haven't won anything in years". That will be us one day. We still have fans clapping our PL win before every home game ffs. How long are we doing that for?

I'd rather be a top flight ever present than get relegated to the third tier.

No where near Spurs level of Bottling.

When you break it down, all of our 'bottling' comes down to the incompetence of a sole individual...

I think it was the term ever present that lead me to think you meant all time.

Ever present premier League status is correct.

I rememeber watching Star Soccer and seeing Tottenham scrape a 3-3 draw at Mansfield, in the old 2nd Division.

(the 70's was great for seing so-called big clubs relegated eg Man Utd and Tottenham.)

Bottle jobs.lol

95% of clubs in the Football League are full of envy for what we have achieved in the last decade.

A huge disappointment in the circumstances last night but have a day off will ya.

I wouldn’t say we are bottle jobs it’s just a case of seeing us being so close but so far on a few occasions but we did win the league, we did win the FA Cup. It wasn’t that many years ago we were getting knocked out of cups early doors and drifting aimlessly in the league so had nothing to ‘bottle’.

Bottle jobs that are one of only 4 teams to win all 4 trophies this century! I’ll take that!

Bottle jobs that continually out perform their budget every season.

Bottle jobs that currently hold the Fa Cup and Charity Shield.

Bottle jobs that have played in Europe two season in a row!

We might have left 4th place slip on the last day twice, but outside Chelsea and Man City every other football supporter in the country would love our last 10 years!

Get a grip!

The fact everyone is getting so defensive is hilarious. I'm a Leicester fan like you all are. I love this club and have followed it for the last 25 years, I was there in league 1 with my season ticket and have been there before and since then.

This isn't an attack on the club its a discussion. Nobody would change the last 10 years for so many reasons but personally I hate the attitude of "we won the FA cup so we are immune to criticism". Nobody is taking that away but the point is we are now a team that doesn't seem to have the mental capacity to follow through with our goals.

I am simply asking is that the manager, the players or just that we have overachieved and this is just our level.

The Spursy thing for me doesnt really exist.

Apart from their 4 nil away win to Stoke, they never looked like catching us in 2016.

The following season they were the only team remotely close to Chelsea but they were never challenging.

Point being that they over achieved to get into the positions they were in and were never really challenging for anything rather than throwing anything away. The finals they were in they were underdogs anyway.

Man Utd losing the title in 2012 and Newcastle losing the title in 1996 were both bottle jobs, the Spurs ones werent.

If we had a History like Spurs, I would be more than happy...

Fan wise...In this modern era

We are about on par with the Spurs lot....OTT expectancy, xx percent of their forums & Terrace fans,Too far up their own entitled arse..!!

But they have like us ( Maybe a few more thousands) a loyal honest knowledgable fan base ...

I Dont see any angle or corner where "Bottle" fits, it was/is occasionally  amusing banter...But only a pathetic lable or new era -term, from Lazy, cynical fans.

You put yourself in the Top 10 in the Hardest League in the world and compete & continual throw out seasonal performances challenging for top 3-6..

You aint Bottling or failing anything....

Clubs have periods of reassesment and redevelopement...We are a new boy on the block in this game of challenging for Top 6-8 recognition,

both Spurs less so, and ourselves have Financial restraints, we have hit a period of recovering injuries to our very difficult to replace Quality players.

this Quality Level took us a few years to build.  Knocks ,indifferent performances are Nature of the beast, One reason why the word "should" in football

is an incompatible & Never  earnt overused Term & thought to any Sport let alone football..I

' Bottle' a word that the ever so critical fans Love to Band about, Leicester city have never been in that Stream   or in a consistent form position,

where Bottlers can be thrown or bandied about...

We’ve got no nasty bastard in our team. Vardy is a shithouse specialist but he isn’t a nasty **** who will snap people in two and get away with it. Everyone else is a bit too nice.

soyuncu has all the capabilities of this but he isn’t smart enough to do this just yet. His head goes

Stupid post!  The "normal" Leicester is the one that spent decades moving between the top two divisions, and being relegated more times than I care to remember and when Europe meant watching the Eurovision song contest on TV.. Are you aware this is the second longest period our club has spent in the top division? We are mid table and still in Europe, These are unprecedented times so enjoy them before the real normal Leicester comes back.

I see you live in Narfack so as they say in those parts "calm you down", and maybe you need to go and drink some chamomile tea!  It was a tongue in cheek post, not meant to be serious.  I think the idea of the post was that some time ago, I was use to my club being a bit up and down, and a habit of shooting ourselves in the foot.  We got use to it as Leicester fans, so these last few years have been great and we need to appreciate it.  Now we are going through some up and down moments just like Leicester of old.  For us older fans, it shouldn't be a problem because Leicester are reverting a little bit to what we traditionally do, and we need to lighten up a bit, because it is not the end of the world......although the wife doesn't see it like that when we lose!
