Greaves seems like a good shout but it may be too late if Spurs and Everton are chasing him.

Unless a take over gets sorted quickly I doubt Everton could afford a round down the local ATM.

Ah that's annoying. Where have you seen that link?

It's in Football insider247.com

Today

Everton have identified a “ready-made” replacement for Jarrad Branthwaite ahead of the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Branthwaite, 21, is the subject of strong interest from Premier League clubs ahead of the off-season.

But Football Insider revealed on Monday (11 March) that Everton are very keen on 23-year-old Hull City defender Jacob Greaves.

The 23-year-old has impressed for the Tigers in the Championship this season and has helped them become contenders to seal a playoff place.

It is believed that Everton chiefs feel Greaves is a natural replacement for Branthwaite in the heart of the Goodison Park defence.

Hull City star Greaves is ‘ready-made’ Branthwaite replacement at Everton

Tottenham have also been linked with the Hull star, but sources say their interest is nowhere near as strong following the January signing of Radu Dragusin from Genoa.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that a move to the top flight is likely for Greaves if Hull aren’t promoted this season – but Everton will need to remain in the division to seal a move.

The defender – who is under contract until June 2026 – has made 36 appearances in the Championship this term, notching two goals and four assists.

£20m + sell-on + buy-back.

Bet the buy-back would be stupidly small despite the buying club taking on a load of risk on whether he'll be decent or not.

A glorified loan with the option not to bring him back if he's crap.

Villa are doing something similar with Archer. Sold him for £18m pure profit on last season's accounts then bought back for £14m because of relegation that can be amortised over whatever the length of his new contract will be. You have to applaud the audacity really.

Man City in the past have agreed to buy back clauses double/treble the selling price.

Player value is a fascinating area. Clubs like Man City get huge money for their academy players when they've achieved very little, but by the same token if McAtee was our player and coming off the back of 9 goals and 4 assists in the Championship in 2022/23 we'd be disappointed if we sold a 20 year old English player for less than £20m.

It does seem far too much though given his season in the PL has been pretty average, albeit for a very poor team.

I've no issue with buy back or sell on clauses though. To me this is the sort of deal that should be £10m with a £35m buy back clause and/or 20% sell on clause.

Have Man City ever activated a buy back? I can’t think of a time they have, unbelievable that they didn’t put one in the Palmer deal

Angelino I think they did but no, they haven't been known to very often.

Can’t find where but according to this we have been linked somewhere with Yaser Asprilla at Watford - although his agent says we haven’t been in touch about him

Arsenal and Leicester City haven’t made contact over a potential deal for Watford star Yaser Asprilla’s in the summer window.

That’s according to Asprilla’s agent Jonathan Restrepo, and he revealed this to Caracol Radio’s El VBar Caracol.

The forward has been a regular for Watford this season, managing six goals and eight assists from 47 games, and his form has seen him linked to Arsenal and Leicester.

His agent was specifically asked about the recent reports of interest from Leicester, who have secured promotion back to the Premier League.

Responding to that, he said: “No one has contacted from Leicester. There is interest from other Premier clubs and other European countries.”

He is a fantastic talent. Watford are extremely proficient at recruiting South American players cheaply and developing them.

Sounds a highly thought of player. Hope there’s truth in this one.

Ademola Lookman has steadily continued his progress in Italy. Knows Leicester. Able to play upfront or on the wing. Wouldn’t mind him making a return.

he’s mostly a winger. Probably  low the list of priorities to spend 20m on..
