Abuse he gets is criminal- no chance he comes back- was fantastic to us and left like a true professional - unlike plenty of rats - bagged us mega money as well- I would have him back in a heart beat- super defender and at 31 nowhere near over the hill- would be a massive yes from me but we wont pay 30m for him no chance- a loan would be unreal- absolutely walks into our side as the best defender at the club easily btw

This is a crazy take, to the point where I'm not sure you're doing it just for bait? Comfortably be our best defender especially to the system we're going to deploy this season! There won't be anything in it imo! Bet he's on a serious wedge.

I think he's comfortably better than any of our CB's too.

 

Just shows how opinions in football can differ pretty massively I guess.

 

Social media and the media in general has swayed a lot of people's opinion on him though I think.

He was fighting a losing battle from the off with the price tag and then the high line Utd are expected to play has never helped him.

Do I think he's made mistakes? Absolutely. But the pressure of playing for a club like that compounded by the braindead decision to slap the captains armband on him has hindered him massively! He's looked fantastic in a team and system suited to his strengths.

Maguire can count himself unlucky - he’s got the profile of an iconic United defender, but he’s joined when the parts around him were so disjointed.

 

Probably guilty of over trying too - before losing confidence, but I think if they’d settled things down, sorted their midfield and attacking lines out and worked with him in pre-season, they’d find they didn’t need to spend £50 mil+ on a young Frenchman.

I assume you're on the wind up which is fine.

 

I genuinely don't see how you can have an opinion that low on HM, who has produced the goods for both England and United, just not consistently which is the issue he's had at United in particular. I can only assume you've just followed the social media witch hunt for him.

 

The lack of pace is probably his only negative in my opinion. He's class, particularly for our current level and should he come back here, he should be club captain. He's a true leader and a role model, something we sorely lacked in recent years.

You know what, I know that's just one tournament's worth of highlights...but I really like the look of him! Be interesting to see what the stats and general reviews of him say, but he definitely seems to have had a good Copa based on SofaScore.
