Not worried about him going in January, no one will pay what we want

In the Summer there will be some big clubs that will be rebuilding their midfields (PSG, Juve, Man Utd, Barca, Liverpool) and he will have much better options than Arsenal

What?

How do you know they haven't?

While he is a LCFC player under contact, he is still a commodity to be traded. If it becomes a bidding war then LCFC can sell him to the highest bidder, who might not be to one YT wants. His agents can sort terms, but not final destination. I suspect that explains BR statement what do we plan to do without YT next season. Just puts the seed of doubt in a players mind. The grass is it always greener !

....the player does not have to go to the highest bidder, just to the club the player wishes to go to!!!

Failing that, he runs his contract down or we try to negotiate a better deal with the club the player has chosen.

Because one has to assume it was known to us about Tielemans intentions a long time ago.

And you're assuming we haven't planned for this behind the scenes.

Have we? Not much time left.

Just 6 months or so...

Club could be planning a "big buy" with the money from selling Youri, not going to be done until he goes

Exactly.

I've been worried about this for 18 months now because our midfield looks concerning without his skillset in the middle of the park.

....we will only find out if he actually chooses to leave and we are then looking around to bring someone in on deadline day!!!

We have got it right in a lot of our purchases, we would assume there would be a list of potential suitors and would have some inclination of player x was interested in coming here. We have to trust that the system is working.

Selling him now would be pointless, wait until the summer.

What we really need is several clubs interested, that will keep the price at a decent level.

I do understand that, but it isn't like how we do our business because there are so many variables that can go wrong to leave it so late in the day.

Depends on what the club are going to target as a replacement though

If it is a young kid who doesn't cost much then fair enough, but if the club are planning on an expensive buy to replace, there is nothing they can really do until he actually goes

Why does anyone have to assume that?

Strange how people think players are commodities…… that changed some time ago !!

a quality player with a decent agent will rule the roost

Of course there are variables, it is to be expected but the system we have so far utilised when acquiring players does eliminate a lot of those potential anomalies. I would suggest Rudkin has a list that he has been monitoring for sometime and is aware of each individual on there.

I get Arsenal are a massive football club. Great history. But they’re at least 10 years behind Man C, Liv and even Chelsea. Surely there is better out there for him ? It seems like a move for the sake of moving.

Arguably, for whatever reason, he hasn’t done enough to convince the current elite set of football clubs. Maybe he sees Arsenal as a better option to do that. I still think they’re one bad result for things going tits up. Still a fragile club/team. Disappointing, as a Leicester fan.

He'd be better off running down his contract and leaving on a free than moving to Arsenal in the summer.

He'll get better offers if he's on a free.  He can do better than Arsenal.

If and when he leaves I really hope it’s to a foreign club (I don’t mean one in the Premier League) just would hate to see him score against us, bit like Kante…

Is it just me who thinks this Ben Jacobs bloke is a bit full of shite?

Basically leeched onto the scoop that one Arsenal journo put out the other day, then added a tweet of Fabrizio which was basically him just putting Brendo's presser quotes from yesterday and made it look like he's got some massive new pieces of information.

I doubt that if the other club offered another £20 million he would be off there ASAP

...if the other club offers £20m more, Youri is not going to benefit from any of it, so it would not affect is decision!!!

I don’t think you’re completely wrong in your assessment of Jacobs. He does seem to be a bandwagon jumper when stories start gathering pace.

However, Brendan’s comments and Fab tweeting those comments suggest Youri’s team behind the scenes are trying to get interest.
