Don’t think it will matter what you pay him frankly. He wants to be at a bigger club. Simple.

I’m not sure it’s the size of the club, he’d be happy here if we were champions league and closer to the top.

I think the writing's on the wall with this one, and we're probably not going to be able to command the kind of fee we would have wanted to get due to his contract situation. If he's dead set on moving, let him go and get the best possible fee we can.

Could be worse!..

Could be going to Spurs, but going to be sickening seeing him wearing that Arse kit 😢!!

Thought he'd aim higher than Arsenal though?

I wish him every failure possible 😂

His not going Arsenal unless they are will to pay a massive amount in this window.

What does he gain by going to Arsenal, one season in the CL if he's lucky?

I not impossible we could yet finish above the gunners, win our games in hand and we are 4 points behind.

I think he will wait until the summer he will be very much in demand due to being available at a reasonable price, hie going to be on the radar of a lot of clubs.

Why does everybody think Arsenal,  they have enough on their plate at the moment with Auba. They already have a solid midfield anyway.  Apart from Alan Smith when have we ever sold a top player to the Gunners. I will add McLintock to that. 2 in nearly 55 years.

Not entirely certain that is relevant. Surely, if we’re selling, we sell to whoever meets the price and the players expectations, be that Barca or Brighton.

Arsenal are reported to be looking to bring in 2 midfielders this summer and Youri will definitely be on their radar, although you'd think he'll get a move to one of the clubs fighting for league titles if they meet our demands.

Because he was linked with them.

History suggests that certain clubs tend do deal with clubs that are not direct rivals. Liverpool do not sell to Man Utd for instance. I consider Arsenal our direct rivals these days.

Ok. I can accept that. I really cannot see him at Arsenal, he’s too good. However, if push came to shove and they offered what we were asking and no one else did, I could see us selling to them, that’s all.

This is always going to be lcfc.. we buy young players improve them and sell for profit.. The only thing that would allow us to keep our ‘worldies’ is competing regular in the CL which just isn’t going to happen.. We are careful with our money meaning we miss out on that Mahrez replacement as we try and replace for little cost.

we have had the training ground, and soon to be it seems the stadium extension.. I don’t think Top will be throwing silly money at us to take us to that next level consistently .

probably have to accept that we will be a 7th-12th team for a good number of years.

replacing the likes of Youri, Maddison and Fofana etc when they move in will be big asks

He is exactly what Arsenal need, whether they are what he needs remains to be seen in who else comes knocking in the summer.

Like it or not Arteta is building a decent team & style there, Tielemans is an Arteta type player & he'd slot into an identical position as he does for us partnered with Partey & Odegaard/ESR ahead of them. They have decent full/wing backs, young attack minded players like Martinelli along with a decent keeper in Ramsdale what they miss is that leader in the middle that will control their tempo which is a Tielemans type player.
If he could get Tielemans & a class CB (or 2) he will have them pushing for top 4 & overtaking the current Man U.

This build & what ever vision Arteta sells to Tielemans (if allowed to speak) could swing Youri's mind in that whilst they may also miss out on CL for next season, he might see more of a chance of getting CL with them the following than with us a little like Chelsea finishing 10th the Golden year but Kante still went to them despite our season in the sun.

FT is very good at being blinkered & quick to call out how bad other teams & players are but its very short sighted thinking, Arsenal are building as will Man U when they settle on Poch, Youri is 25 this year just approaching his peak years & could think Arsenal are a better bet for his 26-30yrs at playing more regularly in Europe v's staying with a team that needs to reinvent itself every 2-3yrs just as we start to poke the top 4 (6) positions.

....we have costed this out I would think, once the extension has been completed we have the funds to invest in the on field business!!!

The loans we have taken out are against last years position in the league, we are probably paying £20m a year to clear these outlays, our net spends will be at another level in 2 years tops.

This club has created a business that is self sufficient, successful and in an era of trophies and recognition. This is not by mistake, the added extras, hotels and fanzones are set up to bring in additional finance to support the club, we are not the poor beggars next door, we are a lot more successful than you think.

Most likely to replace Xhaka I would presume

Junior Lewis would be an up grade on that ****.

I think this one is quite simple really. Youri will wait until the summer and then assess his options.

It's likely that we won't be in Europe or have won any more silverware come the summer. He will be in a good position to accept whatever the best option is on the table and we won't be in a strong position to refuse.

I can't see any benefit to him from rushing into a move to Arsenal and the only benefit to us would be if they offer silly money for a player with 18 months left on his contract.

12 months left in the summer. Not fussed if he goes I think losing Maddison on current form would be a bigger blow but ,maybe he is next to go, and has been said it's a situation we will always face unfortunately.
