Roy Keane, at the start of the season, was saying a move from Leicester to Arsenal was a backwards move and I wouldn't argue with Roy Keane.

Buzzell Posted 13 January 2022 Posted 13 January 2022 Takes me back to the time when we was trying to sign him permanently but Utd we’re heavily sniffing about and we managed to get the deal done. The new contract is on the table, there’s still a small chance of hanging onto him but there is no doubt that he deserves the move to a bigger club.

KingsX Posted 13 January 2022 Posted 13 January 2022 Some people still haven't got over Mahrez after 5 years of the player burning every bridge - even after the transfer. Those folks are going to be a godawful mess when this genuine "A" grade human being and club servant finds his pastures new. **** it, I am going to be a mess. But I am girding my loins for the inevitable. 4
theessexfox Posted 14 January 2022 Posted 14 January 2022 What would be a fair release clause if he did sign an extension? ~£55m?
brucey Posted 14 January 2022 Posted 14 January 2022 We're not going to start giving out release clauses again, or everyone else we're looking to extend will want one too.

Sly Posted 14 January 2022 Posted 14 January 2022 Unfortunately it’s black and white. If he doesn’t sign the contract by the time next season goes, we’ll entertain bids for him.

It'll be a lot less than that. Look at it this way, people need to accept we're not going to get his maximum value in the summer. Yes, under the right circumstances he's a 90m footballer. There's no questioning that. The thought of him going for 30-40 odd is obviously pretty upsetting at a glance but he's going to have a year left on his contract with the whole world knowing he wants to leave. 30-40 also puts him in the sort of bracket that Bayern, Real and the Italian clubs can afford which are further gateways to trophies and the champions league. It's in his interests to go cheap. I don't think he actually will sign an extension with a release clause. It's something I've mentioned but only something I can see happening if his only options are borderline sideways moves. If a "mega" club comes in (no, not Tottenham and Arsenal) then there's really no need for him to extend with a clause. Hell, let's say Barcelona turn around and say "we want you to be the next Xavi and build a team round you but we can't afford the fee this season" then there's incentive right there to just do another season with us and leave for free. So, who knows what will happen. But in the unlikely event he does extend with a clause (probably would have happened by now if it was going to) it would be comparable to Kante's at this point I'd guess. It’s just simple maths. If he needed a few quid in the short term then he would have signed a new deal a year ago and insisted on an RC but I doubt both sides would have found an acceptable figure. he’s a clever fella and he doesn’t need the money now and he wants to further his career at a genuine big money club somewhere in Europe (england is still in europe btw) we will sell for around 25/30m in the summer and he will pocket a nice 20m s/o fee somewhere …… 2
AKCJ Posted 14 January 2022 Posted 14 January 2022 Give him a new contract. Put him on Kasper/Vardy like wages. 35m release clause to Champions League clubs outside of England. £60m release clause to Champions League clubs in England.
davieG Posted 14 January 2022 Posted 14 January 2022 BBC May have already been posted Brendan Rodgers says his "close relationship" with Youri Tielemans may not be enough to persuade the midfielder to stay at Leicester City. Tielemans, who joined the Foxes for a club record £35m from Monaco in 2019 and has 18 months left on his contract, has been linked to a move with Arsenal during the January transfer window. "He is at an age and at a stage in his contract where he has to ensure he looks at every option," said Rodgers. "I would love it to be here at Leicester - that is natural - but I understand it's a very short career." Tielemans has flourished under Rodgers' guidance and scored the winning goal in the FA Cup final against Chelsea last season. Rodgers added: "We have a close relationship, it's really strong. I made a commitment to him when I first came in that we would improve him as a player and he believes in the environment. "Once the player is committed, focused and professional it's never a worry for me. With Youri, you can see his joy of being here. He loves being here and you have to respect these guys' careers are short."

Bazly Posted 14 January 2022 Posted 14 January 2022 Tielemans is a certainty to leave this year, there are good players coming through. Next year it will be little Wes. We know we say goodbye to one of a main players each year and so long as that helps the club remain viable in the transfer market to sub for the duff buys like the desperate duo from Southampton that is fantastic.
Popular Post Ric Flair Posted 14 January 2022 Popular Post Posted 14 January 2022 Rodgers words suggest he's already been given a clear indication that Tielemans is likely to go. Such a shame we didn't get top 4 last season and he signed a new deal. He was still always likely to go but we're going to get less than £50m which is horrible. Our entire recruitment model and foundations for our club to continue to challenge the elite is by making significant profits and reinvesting. I think we're in danger of losing some value to our assets which makes it a lot harder to progress. Ricardo was a shoe in for a 100% profit or more pre injury, Justin and Fofana looked stars in the making and yet we've no idea what state their long term careers are going to be. Will diminishing assets, it's difficult to freshen up this squad significantly. I hope I'm unduly worrying but losing Tielemans for what we paid for him when he's a £75m + player is nasty. 10

We have spent about 70 million on Perez, Praet and Vestergaard in the last three years for not much return , so far. Youri cost 30 million but we have certainly had our monies worth especially considering his current contract is about half of what equivalent players are getting.
Guest Lako42 Posted 14 January 2022 Posted 14 January 2022 I dread to think what duffer we have lined up to spend the YT money on.
HesNotGudjonsonn2 Posted 14 January 2022 Posted 14 January 2022 I seriously believe that KDH will be ready to be first choice, with Ndidi and Maddison, playing more of a box to box role.

It’s pointless saying what we should do when the player won’t be responsive to anything I mean we should buy lots of fantastic players but they need to want to play for us …… Youri is leaving at the end of the season, irrelevant of what we achieve. Infact, I’m not sure that even if we had got CL for this season he would have extended. He has a career plan and that likely mean two more moves - both to big clubs. if he delays another season here then he may not get that second move. there was a good reason he only signed here for four years.
