He's not even criticised the decision to go into a 5 there. He has criticised the team's mentality to sit back in (what happened to be) a 5 at the time.

That was my take on it listening to it, it was sitting back and a defensive mentality that was the problem rather than the formation change in itself.

Sounded more like a criticism of the players or maybe needing some players back to me.

“It’s about having a couple of players lifting us up to have that confidence back in the team to start playing again, playing our football instead of going back into like a back 5 and sitting there”

But I guess everybody will hear it differently as a confirmation of what they already thought.

Could easily blame Thomas for giving Maupay three and a half hours to tee up the cross

Of course several things happen in the lead up to every goal, but once the cross is there then it's Justin's to clear. He's marking Wellbeck and loses him. If he'd marked Wellbeck properly it doesn't go in.

True that it was his mistake for tye goal but as you say it was the tactical shift that changed the game. We know we're shit at the back so why employ tactics that result in us having to defend for large periods. Completely baffling

As far as I can recall we employ professional footballers and pay them a considerable amount of money per week to do their job. They may not like 5 at the back and neither might we but it isn't that hard to play it and it isn't like we don't ever play it or presumably train for it.

They should all show a bit more steel, fight and carry out the basics of the game such as jumping for headers, marking players and passing to team mates a bit more than they are at the moment.

I agree the tactics aren't right but even more baffling to me is the complete ineptitude shown by our players for most of this season.

If Rodgers doesn't make baffling decisions on formation and constantly try to defend 1 goal leads with a very poor defence we also don't drop points. Justin has just come back from 11 months out and made a few errors. Rodgers has been fooking about tactically and ruining our winning positions all season long. Sort your fecking life out if you can't see that.
