The biggest fear I have is we have shown in the great escape season that a team can go on a fantastic run and win lots of games and avoid almost guaranteed relegation. In the first half of that season we kept playing well and losing.
In the first half of this season we have played badly throughout and yet have won a few games we should’ve lost. It’s almost like the opposite of the great escape season. Could we go through the second half of the season barely picking up a point and end up being relegated and have a season remembered as the great collapse?

Let’s be about right, fans who keep barking on about relegation are in La La land. Yes we’ve been poor by our standards for large parts of this season, but I don’t think people actually appreciate how poor half of this league actually is. Yes teams can be teams on any given day but the quality of the bottom quarter imparticular is incredibly poor!!

Let me highlight the point … most would agree we’ve been really poor most the season, yet, our record against the 7 teams below us is:

Played: 7 … Won: 4, Drawn: 3, Lost: 0

So far.

I think we're getting worse though. I'd hate to face any of them now. It feels like we've already had the good part of the season.

The atmosphere will be toxic, the first misplaced pass and the crown will be on the players backs.

A rally cry is all well and good, but it won’t work when you’ve got 30 odd thousand pissed off fans watching their side trying to hang on from the first minute.

We were more than a little fortunate in a few of those in fairness and didn't deserve the results. If it wasn't for the fact that we have a few players capable of a bit of an individual moment of genius we'd be in dire trouble for me.

I think you're right. Fans will always respond positively to a side who fights and is prepared to have a go even if they subsequently lose. However, that hasn't been the Rodger's way with his dire philosophy.

3 times we've played West Ham and been overrun in midfield. 3 times he's failed to learn lessons. If he starts with a 2 man midfield, particularly if it's Tielemans and Ndidi, then it will tell you all you need to know. I personally and hopefully think he won't be dumb enough to do it a 4th time?

Yeah exactly, it’s all if, buts & maybes.

IF we didn’t have players capable of moments of quality and IF we had, say, Norwich’s squad, we would be in a relegation battle. We don’t, we have players who have shown they are more than capable at performing at a really high standard, but they aren’t performing as bad as they ‘need’ to inorder to get us in a relegation battle. That’s just a fact.

I don't believe for a second that we could get relegated as there are definitely more than 3 teams worse than us in the league.

However, as a Leicester fan, you should know that anything is possible when it comes to us.

I don't think for one minute were as bad as others for the reasons you state. I just think it's a precarious and unnecessary position to be in.

'Get behind the team' is all well in good in theory. But it's a two way street. Fans will respond and lift the atmosphere if they see a team giving them their money's worth.

I don't want to speak for others but a lot of STH and fans who go every week are fed up with Rodgers. The media making excuses for him that our season is just bad luck and injuries. And us just trying to survive in football matches for 90 minutes. We've ****ed up the FA Cup to a championship team, we ****ed up the Europa League in an easy group and we're looking over our shoulders now in the league.

I want Top to put his foot down soon and take control of this situation. We're better than this.

These rallying calls have shown time and again over the last few years that sadly they don’t really work.

Those that sing down The Way will do so on Sunday and those that don’t wont now miraculously start to.

Shame as if you go down to the football and sing and make your own fun then its a far more enjoyable experience.

There are 8 teams below us...but we haven't played Everton yet.

Your point stands though. It's the teams around us, the ones we should be challenging with that have got us very little points.

I agree with the OP. We have a choice. Be negative and boo. Be miserable and silent. Be positive and noisy.

Which option helps the team most?

I’m going to be positive but boo anyway.

Despite what people say on here I think as a fan base we’ve been very patient for the past 2 years. FA Cup aside there has been far to many poor and passive performances vs positive performances. After a while it begins to grate and after 2 difficult years fans just want to enjoy watching their team but at the minute we can’t even do that.

Some of the threads at the moment really don’t recognise or acknowledge the adversity we’ve had this season.

Think of your strongest possible 11, and then look at what we can field. It doesn’t surprise me where we are on that basis, and yes it’s frustrating beyond belief - but can’t help at times this places becomes an echo chamber for having a pop from behind our keyboards. I didn’t hear much in the way of discontent last night.

We are also in the position our budget and spending suggests. We are good examples of how to punch above your weight in terms of budgets, but almost always what you spend determines where you finish.

Now is the time to lend your support the most!

Players get paid a shitload, manager gets paid a shitload, we train in a 100m facility with some of the best there is to offer. The club and ownership have given the players and management the best resources available yet we aren’t producing good form.

 In comparison to what? There's been some incredible, superb performances alongside the poor. Nearly a year ago to the day, we beat Liverpool 3-1 at home and followed it up with a superb win at Villa Park.

If it is two difficult years, christ alive.

I think this team is so devoid of confidence we can do nothing but cheer as loudly as we can.  Booing them is never going to help. Yes I'm frustrated, yes I'm not happy about things but they are shot of confidence so let's get behind them and give them our support. We desperately need points on the board and goals.  They are probably dreading walking out, rightly or wrong, as they know it isn't good enough, they read social media.  Let's give them a lift and try and be the extra person in the team.

Save the booing for Zouma and West Ham!

Other teams pay more and payment correlates to performance - it’s simple. The biggest predictor of where a team finishes is not based on facilities - however nice they have been. Perhaps the better facilities have given some players a false sense of complacency? Like the thought that they’ve made it because they come into work and the facilities are amazing and that might impact on how hungry they are?

I’m not saying we are regressing to the norm, but surely some appreciation of why we are this position - injuries and having to manage / integrate 4-5th choice players into a lot positions.

I personally have every confidence that getting players back and rebuilding we will challenge that top 6 once more. It’s not going to be easy, and we’re a million miles from that at the moment.

We still have the players though to be top half quite comfortably okay maybe not 5-7th position, but certainly 8th-10th at a minimum.
