What we have been missing are games where we smash a team early. How long has it been since we finished the business by the 80th minute, let alone 60th or halftime? Not once this year. (Heck, it was 1-1 at half time against a Danish pub team.) The best way to manage Vardy would be to take him off early, after the game is in hand. Instead we need him on the pitch for 90+ minutes, and the Liverpool game showed us what that causes. So right now, I am torn on whether to start him -- more likely to win -- or to pull him off the bench, so he is rested for Rennes.

After his performance against Burnley I was more inclined to “pull him off”

Haha when was the last early Saturday kick off we won? Was it Liverpool at home last season or was that a Sunday?

I think it was.

Can't remember too many joyous Saturday lunchtime victories.

I remember Chris Wood scoring at Watford and Burnley in our promotion season but can't think of many Saturday lunchtime ones that we've won during our premier league lifetime 🤔

Yes far too many bad performances at lunch time kick offs. We always seem to start slowly and don’t play with the same energy and passion. In fact when ever I see that starting time slot I get a feeling of dread and apprehension.  Needs to change.

I know its not as important but this to me has a feeling like a "Steve Howard"moment could really be the difference in which way this season goes.

This is the game

The only other famous one I remember since being back in the PL is the 3-1 win at The Etihad in 2016. Sure that was a Saturday game.

Shit, how did I forget that one  😅

At least when we do a Saturday lunchtime win , we do it in style 😎

I think this one's come too early for new manager bounce for Leeds.

3-0 Daka and Barnes in there and I also fancy Lookman

Yeah, he's a good looking guy.

Never too early for a new manager bounce. Just the sacking of the previous incumbant is often enough to galvanise a beleaguered team.

They will be dangerous and unpredictable.

Everyone will be excited for Vards to return. But I just hope we manage him carefully. The last thing we need is to prolong an injury again. Our season depends on him lol

I'd start with Kell or Daka, give Vards some minutes off the bench again to terrorise their defence.

Maybe then start him against Rennes

Lol.. Reminded me of the story of Alf Ramsey telling Rodney Marsh to "do what l told you or I'll pull you off at halftime" to which Rodney replied "that's good boss all we get at Man city is a cup of tea and half an orange".... Surprisingly the brilliant RM didn't win too many more caps.

Patson or Kelechi upfront, starved and isolated.....  Play them together (unlikely)  or devise a system where Barnes or Maddison play as an attacking partner and do a positional  switcharoo when JV comes on.

Eg, Lookman on thr left, Albrighton on the right, Barnes and Daka up front, Maddison deep.

Albrighton and maybe Daka off, JV and maybe another on and switcheroo Barnes, Lookman and Madders. ..... my tupence worth.

EDIT. Leaving just one midfield slot to fill from Ndidi, KDH, Youri etc.      i did say my tupence worth

I was looking forward to the game but I'm not now and we're doomed.

Two reasons.

Firstly, I'd forgotten/ blocked out how terrible we are at an early ko. Its like we're still warming up gently for the 3pm ko, and boom we get mullered.

Secondly, every match there's full scale pre match positivity on here we get battered.

Thanks lads

Fully except us to go back to playing Mario Kart football, as I call it; nothing but goals from both ends and vibes. 4-2 win.

Vardy - the rocket to fire us in front

Barnes - the pacy mushroom

N'Didi - the intercepting turtle shell

Albrighton - the coin which cost nothing

Vestergaard - the fake item box

Soyuncu - the banana skin

Tielemans - the starman

Kasper - the ghost

Brendan - the lightning shock
