I still want to see Vardy's return managed, because frankly I don't trust our medical team not to rush players back - Justin being the prime recent example. Give him half an hour in this one.

Really looking forward to this one!

 

It's my BIRTHDAY tomorrow :beer:so in Leicester for 10am for breakfast, a few beers, then the match...then lots more beers afterwards and more food :frantics:

 

Hopefully, I make a late train back to Brum lol

I'm genuinely very excited for this game, it's so rare you see two teams just going at each other and trying to win the game. Really hope it plays out this way tomorrow. Nothing better than two managers that back their highly paid players to be able to play decent football and try and win the game rather than sitting back and hoping the odd counter attack will bare fruit.

 

6-5 either way!

Pre-match Press Conference vs Leeds

 

Abramovich?

“There is no doubt there will be a void. Roman was hugely influential. He showed over many years his support to the club. I loved every second of being there. There was an environment where you could develop as a player and a coach. I’ll always be eternally grateful to work in a world-class environment.”

 

Vardy?

“He’s a huge influence. He’s one of the Premier League's great strikers. It makes you a better team. His movement for the first goal, his anticipation, so he sprints to be onside. He sets up James who has a brilliant finish. His awareness to be in the right place. When you have Jamie in your team, you clearly are in a much better moment in terms of your confidence and leadership. He affected the game. It continues a much better performance from us as a team. We were aggressive in the game, played our football and got two wonderful goals.”
 

Vardy shows what you miss?

“We’ve won games without him. In the moments where Jamie hasn’t played, the reliance should never be on one play, but when you miss players, it makes a huge difference. If Liverpool were to lose Van Dijk, Matip and Salah, it would make a difference. That’s like us with Wesley, Jonny and Jamie. For us, it will be about the collective.”
 

Bielsa and Leeds?

“I think it will be different. Marcelo is a big loss to the Premier League, as much for the human qualities he showed. It’s a big loss for the city, he was a father figure. He was admired there, and by managers. I spent some time with him while he was here. The game is a circus now, but he brought old-school values. He was not taken in by everything that goes around the modern game. It was what football used to be like. He will be a loss. Leeds will go again. Jesse has taken over a great group of players, who have been very good. He will want to lift them and challenge them to stay up. His style will be zonal. Marcelo was an outlier in terms of man to man. They will be more traditional in terms of their pressing.”
 

Unlucky to be facing Marsch first?

“No, I don’t think there will be too much that we don’t know. It takes time to put in place your ideas. They will be physically in good condition. They have talented players, and some very good British players who have formed the foundation of their success. It will be more traditional. Jesse has said himself, it will be more zonal pressure. There’s so much footage now, so you have a good idea of how they will work. He will want to impose his own signature on the team.”
 

Vardy fitness?

“Whether he will last the whole game or not, it remains to be seen. But he’s fresh. We've missed that movement, and that energy, that cuteness in the game.”
 

Why Vardy still so good?

“He’s a natural goalscorer. He works at his game. He’s very astute. He studies the game, He’s very clever, he picks up on things in his game. He’s sharp, he has a bright mind. He’s looking for ways to get in. He’s got a lovely soft finish if he has to. There’s no doubt he has been one of the world’s best over these last few years. He works tirelessly at his game and he has a hunger to keep proving a point.”
 

Schmeichel third top appearance maker for City?

“It’s an incredible achievement. It’s a testament to his desire to stay fit and his professionalism and his consistency in his performances.”
 

Three years?

“I’ve enjoyed every second since I’ve been here. We’ve been managing the loss of a leader, that gets overlooked some times. Managing that had to be a part of my job. We had to build on the legacy of Khun Vichai. We had to move to a new training ground. I’ve been supported incredibly well by the board and Khun Top. The players have been amazing. Our challenge was to disrupt the top end of the table and we have been able to do that. It’s been a challenge this past year. If we can finish strong, we can build on that for next season. I couldn’t have wished for any more, winning the FA Cup, two European finishes."
 

Injuries?

“We've got a couple of issues with Ricardo and James Maddison and whether they will be ready for the game or whether we will have to wait for next week. James’ run of form has been great. Ricky has been troubled by setbacks. We’ll give it every chance. James has a problem with his lower back."

 

Frustrating with injuries?

“It’s frustrating because we have to keep patching up, and play players out of position. There’s players on the way back, and we have been getting our fluidity. But we have to manage that.”
 

Reaction from Forest?

“There’s no doubt that was the low point. It was a performance that was unacceptable. It’s what you learn from that. That’s key for any good player. We've seen from that the performance has enabled us to do that. The honesty of the players, they had to respond from that. They have come back really well.”
 

Thinking about assessing squad for summer?

“There’s been a lot of positives. Luke Thomas has been arguably our player of the season so far. Dewsbury-Hall has added a different dimension to the team. It’s about availability. That’s been the biggest challenge. We have to ensure our squad is robust.”
