Hopefully can convince him to have one season as back up to Kasper, play a few cup games. I don't think Kasper leaves until his contract ends but we'd need to move Ward on this summer if we want to have Iverson around.

I would be very surprised if Kasper left at the end of the season.  Any particular reasons for thinking he may leave?

He gave an interview a few months ago saying he wants another shot at Champions League, Brendan has talked about a major rebuild and in Denmark a guy I got talking to who has obvious links to Danish players including some of ours said as much.

No idea if the latter was said with any inside info but I know he could have.

Wish people spoke with Kasper with more respect. 3rd most capped player in clubs history (most capped keeper). Won PL and FA cup

he gets to decide when he’s done, he’s earned the right

I'd look to sell Ward and then play Iversen in all the cups and in some league games if it upsets Kasper so be it

Think we're more likely to sell Iversen than Ward.

Iverson is young and has a career ahead of him.

Ward is happy to be a back up player.

As much as I'd like to see the former, I can see the latter being true.

Depends how much we genuinely think he'll succeed Kasper. If we genuinely think he has that quality and we tell him so then he'd probably be happy to do a year in the cups for us.

If we're only hanging on to him as a backup then we should be honest enough to tell him that and sell him whil his stock will be high.

O to have a goalkeeper that commands his 6 yard box!!!

If you tell him it’s cup games and number one is his next summer I reckon he’d go for that! We will want to progress far in the cups next years as we should look at anyway into Europe possible!

2 Awards, Players and Fans

Daniel Iversen picked up the two main accolades in Preston North End’s 2021/22 end of season awards!

The awards took place on the pitch at Deepdale following the conclusion of the final game of the Championship campaign – a 4-1 win at home to Middlesbrough.

On-loan goalkeeper Iversen received both Player of the Year awards up for grabs, one voted for by his teammates, with the other voted for by the supporters of the football club. The fan vote proved a close call, with defender Andrew Hughes narrowly missing out on the award.

Iversen, who was called up to his national side in March, has featured in every game this Championship season, coming up with countless impressive saves and keeping 13 clean sheets.

The Ward transfer still stinks of some kinda agent favour/bonus/backhander to recycle/cloak some money owed. 12m, ffs. Totally bizarre. Same sort of agent shenanigans as Vonay Campbell (who I don't actually think is a professional footballer. He looks more suited to warehouse work).

Anyways, back to the thread. we shouldn't forget that Schmeichel must save 10 certain goals per season, though the net gain is negated by maybe 10 set piece concedes that a big keeper wouldve gobbled up.  I've this fella is 6ft 4. I like the sound of that!

Well done Dan. Will be interesting to see what happens next year. Another loan or in the squad.

I would put him in the squad, made a big impression at Preston

nothing like that. The club expected a big bid for kasper form an entitled 6 club. They expected him to want to leave and wanted to get a keeper in before we got priced out.

This particular move didn’t work out but i’m fairly certain the club thought he was a replacement not an expensive cover.

Quite young for a keeper.

but also older than Ward was when we bought him, he needs to be playing for us next season if he is ever going to make it here.

fair enough but my point still remains his days of being on loan should be over, either playing games here next season or sell

Ward was 25 when he joined, Iversen is also 25 in July

I wouldn't recognise him if he stood next to me. I have no idea if he's good enough to be our number 1. It's good to know hes well thought of wherever he's been.
