Could be the reason Daka and Soyuncu aren’t included in the squad I did think this but neither are in the training photos from yesterday morning. You would think that is more illness/injury rather than that they are not vaccinated, no? 1
Xen Posted 17 March 2022 Posted 17 March 2022 Fofana is a big call, but our hand has probably been forced by Soyuncu not being available. Much rather have Fofana come in (who's been in full training for a while now) than risk someone like Evans who's only just back, or Ndidi/Choudhury out of position, though. Maddison on the bench, hopefully he can come on and unlock their defence after the hour mark when they start to tire. Need Youri to put on his good boots today and have a decent performance. Could be the difference in whether we can hold off their pressure until the substitutions. Wonder why no Daka. Hopefully we get an early goal to really make life difficult for them, and gaps start to open up. This could go either way, though, so need a strong start. Kill the pace of the game as much as possible and get them desperate. 1
st albans fox Posted 17 March 2022 Posted 17 March 2022 (edited) For those of you of a nervous disposition, I would be pretty certain that vestergaard will have to come on at some point - surely wes doesn’t play more than an hour. And that means we probably go 3 atb with Marc dropping in at rwb, JJ dropping into the back 3 (or wilf/hamza) and Ricky coming on for Luke if necessary Edited 17 March 2022 by st albans fox 1 1

Dames Posted 17 March 2022 Posted 17 March 2022 Very worried that Vestergaard will be coming on with an hour gone to cover for Fofanas selection. A huge call by Rodgers because essentially we will have to switch to 5 at the back and that allows Rennes to attack us for 30 or so minutes. I hope we can wrap it up in the first half but i'm a little concerned, Rodgers has either played a blinder here or he could well end up screwing us over. It would have been safer to start Ndidi at CB. 4
Grebfromgrebland Posted 17 March 2022 Posted 17 March 2022 Its ok ndidi can drop into defence if needed to rest fofana 1

I’m not certain of the close contact isolation rules ref PL protocols or French entry. We all thought Bouba had covid in Jan but if he had, then I assume he would be allowed to France. we’ll never know what’s actually going on unless BR states in his pre match interview if any of the three actually have covid ……. 1

Subs: Jakupovic, Odunze, Pereira, Vestergaard, Choudhury, Maddison, Perez, Lookman If no Major mishaps..I suppose its planned that Riccardo, Maddison,Lookman are the First choice subs.. Forgetting worried fans expecting injuries from past nightmares...This is near our best selection, But to make it so those Front 3 have to be up for it from für Kick-off..!!

ealingfox Posted 17 March 2022 Posted 17 March 2022 Iheanacho on his own upfront so we won't be scoring more than 1, if that. Just got to hope those who think Fofana will solve everything are right!
StanSP Posted 17 March 2022 Posted 17 March 2022 Thought Maddison might have started. Great to have Fofana back. Fingers crossed he remains injury free!

Could it potentially be that they've not had a booster jab? In a lot of countries just being double jabbed is normal but apparently in France its obligatory
adam Posted 17 March 2022 Posted 17 March 2022 Lamp Post to the rescue then when wes pulls a muscle. Concerned about Albrighton's fitness but I slagged him off last week and he was great!
Dames Posted 17 March 2022 Posted 17 March 2022 1 minute ago, Torten said: You have to hope we’re comfortable at that time and put Ndidi at the back and bung in another CM I hope i'm wrong but Rodgers is very predictable with the timings of his subs and with Fofana being out for so long with so little match fitness he will have to make way at some point. The other worry is that is Fofana sharp enough? Justin has had a torrid time since he came back. Its a huge risk in what is now our biggest game of the season.
StanSP Posted 17 March 2022 Posted 17 March 2022 It's a strong ish bench. Pereira, Maddison, Lookman all great options.
