Should be a few changes to the team that started tonight, hopefully Justin and Fofana are not risked.

With the injuries from tonight my guess would be..

Schmeichel

Ricardo

Amartey

Soyuncu

Thomas

Tielemans

Mendy

KDH

Maddison

Daka

Lookman

Confidence will be understandably high.

Perhaps the same team is best to keep up the momentum.

Am sure Fofana will come on at some point.

Hope Erikson gets a good reception.

If Vestergaard starts I do not want to see our defence anywhere near the half way line.

Need to accomodate him by playing a low block. It will make the game scrappy and isn’t our preferred style, but staying solid at the back will give us a good platform to build from. Brentford are a team that like to attack anyway, so we should get opportunites on the counter. Hopefully Daka is back for this one.

Would be good to win this 1-0 with a 95th minute own goal, with us having no other efforts on goal and Brentford having 30 shots on target and an xG of 8.3. Just to see how salty that Frank will be in his post match interview!

Actually a really big game for us if we are going to finish top 10 and retain a bit of respectability.

Nah tonight was a really big game, don't get me wrong you always want to see us win. But personally I'm not overly bothered if we finished 9th or 13th it's all mid table mediocrity to me. To that end only play people that are 100 percent fit and maybe look at giving a rest to players that have featured heavily recently like KDH Barnes and Thomas.

We should be looking to win this.

The international break would afford most of the players some recovery time, but reasonable rotation would be wise.

Not to split hairs after a “result” of sorts, but are those saying “not too many changes, keep up the momentum” referring the the momentum of 2 defeats in a row? lol

Im aware we are playing better, but just seems an odd way of referring to things.

Also a long break coming up so why not just go for it this weekend and give us something to come back to? Lose again and we’re dead set on bottom half and could even be looking at finishing below Newcastle!

When we come back it’ll be the game before the ECL QF so that’ll be when we will rest players ahead of that game you’d imagine.

...between 9th and 13th is about £8m, enough to meet the cost of  a young CB!!!

It is essential we attempt to finish as high as we can.

I hear what your saying and I appreciate your efforts to try and make me care. But if we need 8 million for a young center back (that's very cheap BTW, you sure he's gonna cut it?) then top will find the money whether we finish 8th or 13th.

I agree it's good to finish as high as possible but will you be telling your grandkids about the season we finished 9th? As a fan your remember huge moments, and big nights, like tonight actually.

I'm going to the Brentford game will hopefully be enjoyable afternoon and 3 points but for me personally I'm not having its some kind of massive pivotal game in the season.

I’m just worried playing a strong team against Brentford will result in another injury to a major player and we’ll be back down to the barebones again. An injury to Daka, Maddison, either CBs or Thomas and we’re ****ed. You can risk one or two but risking 5 or 6 outfield players is not a gamble I’d like to take whilst still in the ECL.

Just my personal opinion though.

....Chris Richards who is presently at Hoffenheim (on loan rom Bayern) is on transfer market for £6.75m, his loan expires this summer and the likelihood is that he will be sold by Bayern!!!

Top is not going to put his hand in his pocket to help to finance us, or any money put in by King Power to boost our coffers. We will sell players in order to generate the funds required. Any cup run is great and you can see the players are focused in trying to get to the final, this is not about either or, it is about mitigating potential shortfalls to meeting our needs in the summer.

We sold no one last summer and signed 5 players (and one loan) for 60 plus million and that was during covid and after Seagrave construction.

When since top and vicahi took over have we ever not spent money to strengthen when the squad has needed it? (apart from in January when the club avoids doing business)

I must admit I know nothing about Chris Richards but if the scouting department like him, we think he will appreciate in value, Brendan's a fan and we can get him at reasonable price then we will definitely try and sign him irregardless of where we finish.

In fact the last time we finished 12th we found 75 million to spend on ineacho, Silva, iborra and Maguire.

...last season, incoming was:

Soumare ~ £17m

Daka ~ £23m

Vestergaard ~ £15m

Bertrand ~ £0.00 free

Lookman ~ £0.00 on loan.

The £75m spend would have been prior to the investment made in the Seagrave project. We are a self sustainable club, we earn the money to plough back into the team. We take out loans to finance our need for added infrastructure, and this is against monies received from our final position in the league.

So long as we can maintain our status in the Premier League, and with the completion of stadium and surrounding area developments, we will then begin to have funds to better invest in players who could walk in and immediately improve our first eleven.
