The spine of the two different XI's seems to pick itself and that's key. Ironic that we are able to field two entirely different back 4 now when we have been struggling in this area all season. Up front and midfield it will be a case of resting those that are looking too tired or showing signs of injury if not rested. Ideally you would keep some consistency down the spine in particular. A European semi has to get priority though we have seen that there are still chances for players to find a place in those games as we saw with lookman and even Perez. Nalis Posted 17 April 2022 Posted 17 April 2022 Bookies are probably putting too much thought into our rotation. For what its worth, with our first XI I'd say we win, with today's rotated line up I reckon it will be a score draw.

Suzie the Fox Posted 17 April 2022 Posted 17 April 2022 Funnily enough i felt more confident of a win at PSV than i am here. Bloody hope thats just silly nerves. I'm guessing at a draw which wouldn't be THAT bad playing away from home. 1
Lesterlad Posted 17 April 2022 Posted 17 April 2022 My team today considering the most of the team that played Ghursdah will be exhausted would be. Kasper, JJ. Thomas. Soyunchu Amartey. Lookman. Mendy. KDH. Tielemans Perez and Daka. Enough to get a result I think and still rather attacking line up. I wouldn’t be surprised today or in midweek to see Vardy in the bench just to give him some minutes to get him match fit before using him in Roma. Injury permitting obviously o
The People's Hero Posted 17 April 2022 Posted 17 April 2022 I wonder if we might see Tielemans rested. He does look like he desperately needs it. 1

Adrian Posted 17 April 2022 Posted 17 April 2022 We are fit, confident and guaranteed some ball possession...no reason we don't win by 2 or 3 Keep playing daka until it clicks. ..we can afford for him to fail so play the long game with him I say. Perez owes Leicester so maybe he feeds daka some 1
The People's Hero Posted 17 April 2022 Posted 17 April 2022 If Maddison plays today and plays well; operating between the lines, I think we'll win comfortably. Newcastle have always struggled against us when we've had something between the lines; look back at previous games. I don't really know where Bruno Guimares operates for them; but unless they find a way to better nullify Maddison (or Tielemans if he plays and is not in the holding role) then I think its our for the taking.

Yes Bruno Guimaraes is the one to really watch out for. He played well last game as a deep lying midfielder who dribbles the ball out through the midfield in a way we hoped soumare would. Tactically it will be interesting to see what Brendan does to counter this. Saint maximin is a threat but a bit selfish and prone to run into a dead end or fluff his lines in a manner similar to Sarr or Traore used to at wolves. I can see us playing Fofana or Justin today to counteract this pace. If we put out a strong team and continue our form we should win this but we need to start well and battle today. Not leave it until the half time team talk.
An Sionnach Posted 17 April 2022 Posted 17 April 2022 Newcastle are a lot more focused now and will be up for this. They are an EPL team remember and that is a different order of things than PSV and the Dutch league. At last I have more faith in our defense so frustrate them and take at least one of our chances and we can get a result.
adejo92 Posted 17 April 2022 Posted 17 April 2022 These last few games we have really got our majo back. Drop Tielemans for this one though, he's been really sub standard of late. You can usually tell within the first 15 minutes what kind of game Barnes is going to have so I'd keep him in and drag him off at half time if he's having one of his stinkers. I'd like to see Daka play to try and build his confidence up. He's not been great, but needs a run of games else he'll never mould to the premier league.
sdb Posted 17 April 2022 Posted 17 April 2022 Should be a fun game. Neither team needs a win but I think both sides will be nicely motivated to do so. Howe needs wins and BR will want to keep up momentum. A fair few of our starters will be out to prove something too (Perez, Lookman/Barnes, whichever back 4 play).
Weller Wing Posted 17 April 2022 Posted 17 April 2022 Keep St Maximan quiet and we'll have a better chance. A very difficult opponent when he's on it
fox_up_north Posted 17 April 2022 Posted 17 April 2022 Let's just hope Windmill Willy doesn't show up

Daka does make runs and needs the ball quicker, but we look to pass it around so he has to constantly re-adjust. Thought of them as a front two this morning, it will suit Daka well.
