8 changes for Sunday v a tough Newcastle team.

I think the subs today deserve a crack and shouldn't be too spent from 45 mins. I'm concerned that relying too much on Fofana / Evans could backfire. Amartey and Soyuncu should hopefully be good against Wood who won't beat them for pace.

Schmeichel

Justin Amartey Soyuncu Thomas

Mendy KDH

Perez Maddison Lookman

Daka

Barnes, Iheanacho, Albrighton, Tielemans up the sleeve for if we need to pep things up.

I'd save Fofana, Evans, Ricardo, Castagne (who I thought was shit tonight) for Everton on Wednesday.

From now on until the end of the season we have a game every weekend and every midweek - hopefully ending on Wed 25 May in Tirana.

Rotation is the name of the game from here on in, with Roma the absolute priority.

KDH needs a rest for sure, Perez is a great presser of the ball so we can play an off the ball front two with him and Daka or Iheanacho and aggressively defend from the front.

Schmeichel

Justin

Soyuncu

Fofana

Castagne

Mendy

Tielemans

         Perez Nacho Lookman

Kdh needs a rest. Go again with a strong bench - Barnes, Ricardo, Albrighton, Daka etc.

It's taken him a while but I think Brendan has finally figured out what each player brings to the Team. He's mixed and matched the lineups to great effect in recent Weeks.

I'd rest KDH before we burn him out. He's played a lot of high tempo football recently.

I'd also rest Evans and Fofana to keep them fresh for the rest of the season.

You can make it work with enough willpower, lads. You know you want to.

Riding on the crest of a wave of our first European semi-final berth... :appl:

We head back to the EPL, looking for a third straight league win with a visit to the Magpies who are now 10 points off the relegation places. With an eye to the away tie against Everton midweek, would like to see a handful of changes but retain the corpus of today's starters

Kasper

Justin

Fofana

Soyuncu (Amartey)

Castagne

Mendy

KDH (2H Hamza?)

Maddison (Youri)

Perez

Daka (Iheanacho)

Lookman

Let's keep the momentum going! :scarf:

....Barnes has something to prove!!!

This was not a good night for him, he came up against the same defender and struggled to find a way around him, I would think he cannot wait for Sunday.

Weighed against rewarding Lookman for his strong performance tonight with a start on Sunday...tough choice!

I'd prefer rotation here, so we can do the dirty on Everton and get them looking over their shoulder again. I have a soft spot for Dyche and a colleague is an Evertonian, so I wouldn't mind a good chuckle.

I agree re the defence.  Amartey and Cags have built a solid partnership and this is a good opportunity to rest all 4 from tonight.  Happy with Perez, Lookman and Daka. Midfield is a problem as I think Madders, KDH and Tielamans could all do with a rest. Obviously we bring in Mendy.  Do we try Soumare again? Hard to see how we could fit in Hamza, and I guess it would be too much of a risk to bring in Braybrooke or Wanya Marcal.  Can't think past that.

If he's fit enough, Maddison should keep playing in my opinion. Whilst he's in this form he needs to keep playing as he's such a key player for us right now. He strikes me as the kind of guy who wants to play as much as possible and not be rested. If anything I'd rest/drop Youri as he's way below the levels being set by Maddison and KDH at the moment. Only thing I would say is maddison is a great option to change a game from the bench if needed where as I wouldn't see Youri coming off the bench and changing the game if we were losing.

What worry’s me is both nacho and daka have the worst 1st touched I think in all of the premier league , I lost count of the times both lost the ball , they really need to work on there 1st touch

I think you are exaggerating a little here.   The worst in the premier, come on !!  The fact that you lost count really doesn't surprise me though..

It seems incredible to me after the season that we've had that we;re now in the position to rotate our whole back four.  Midfield is the problem though, with a lack of options to rest players.  I think we're going have to trust Hamza a bit more and prioritise Europe.  Wish we still had Dennis!

Perez has earned himself a start here, the back four should revert to the back 4 who played pretty well against Leeds, with Mendy to come in too. I’d go:

Kasper

Justin

Amartey

Soyuncu

Thomas

Mendy

Tielemans

Perez

Albrighton

Iheanacho

Lookman

Give a rest to quite a few players after last night, whilst still being storing enough to go and get a result at St James Park.

KDH, Tielemans nas Maddison are all having to play a lot of games.  In particular,  we currently lack options  for covering KDH and Tilemans.

Mendy will allow us to bench one of them.

ITKs: is Braybrooke ready for minutes off the bench to ease the workload? Or Brunt?

Tough lineup to predict. KDH, Tielemans and Maddison have all played a lot lately.

Schmeichel

Justin Amartey Soyuncu Thomas

Mendy Choudhury

Perez Maddison Lookman

Daka

I think Rodgers would trust Brunt more, just because of age. But it would be good to see some of the youngsters on the bench in the final run.

Bit of a free hit for us really.Playing Choudhury should spice things up a bit.

I'm a bit surprised that the bookies have made Newcastle such clear cut favourites for this game !!  It works out well for me as I've got great odds for my bet !!
